Not to show my age too much, but does anyone here have memories of the "old" days of motorcycle camping? I'm talking about the days when hardly any campgrounds would even let you in the gate because you were riding a bike...:( ......boy, oh boy have the times changed haven't they??

I remember riding through the Adirondacks back in 1975 on my '71 XS-1 Yamaha and my buddy on his 650 Triumph Bonneville and not a single campground would give us tent space for the night. We ended up sleeping in a meadow just off a farm path near the road, not quite the evening we had planned..........

Yes, I remember those day also. I used to strap a backpack and a tent on my 75 Honda 550 and tour around the country. Usually had to stay at state and national park campgrounds because like you said, most private campgrounds wouldn't let you in. I too would at times look for a field or spot to pitch for the night when nothing else was available. Back then, one could feel fairly safe doing that. Not to sure about today, guess that would depend on where you were.
