:) I want to build my own cargo trailer to pull behind my 2005 ST1300. I am thinking along the lines of the Harbor Freight kit as a base chassis. I would then build a simple square box with the front 1 foot slanted down at a 45 degree angle to make it a little more aerodynamic. A single rear door and one shelf running front to back to give me two levels of storage. I would probably use very thin plywood 1/4" or maybe 1/2" with 2x2 inner framework to fasten the plywood to glued and screwed. Plywood would be easier for me to use and could either be stained with brass hardware or painted. The top could be used for extra tie down cargo or as a counter top for cooking and my grill. Which 4'x4' trailer do I want from Harbor Freight. Do I want 8" or 12" wheels. What type of hitch and coupler. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I would recommend the 12? kit. The 8? kit has a leaf spring suspension that can be a problem. The 12? kit is on a rubber torsion suspension which is much better and the 12? wheels perform much better.
I also would highly recommend joining http://www.delphiforums.com/
and the Motorcycle Trailer Towing Forum on it. There is an endless amount of knowledge there on this subject. Delphi also has other great Motorcycle related Forums, like the Touring Forum. This is a Very active forum and as with the Trailer Forum, it has a high knowledge base to feed from.

I was thinking of buying the 12" kit and putting a truck tool box on it, durable, waterproof and relatively inexpensive.

Hey Bandit,
That has been done and the guy says it worked great.
