Hello;
I guess this is the place to introduce myself?
Tho at the present time I don't have a bike I am planning on getting another one.
It's just me, I have been single again for 5yrs and loving it! Both kids are grown and on their own.
I work as a over the road trucker and I live in Maine. But by the end of the year I am going to give up my apt here in Maine, put my license back to TN and live in the road tractor. I plan on living in the tractor for at least 2yrs to save as much money as possible. I have dreamed of becoming a full time camper for 20yrs. Was gonna wait until I retired but what the heck! There's no guarantee that I'm still gonna be around by then!!! So I thought now was the time! I plan on buying a pickup truck, a travel trailer and a bike. Right now I am thinking hard about getting a duel purpose bike so that I can use it on and off road. Plus what ever bike I do buy needs to be light enough that I can load it into the back of the pickup by myself.
Most of my bike camping trips have been the weekend type. But have been on longer ones, with x-husband, X and kids and by myself. I am really looking forward to doing it again.
I am also looking forward to reading all the threads and learning as much as I can!
Thanks.

Echo,

Welcome!

I'm thinking of a set of dual-sport bikes for Chris and myself...
I wouldn't worry to much about loading a bike into the back of a pickup... as long as you can put some ramps down (and have the bed of the truck roughed up so you can stop! DAMHIK! :o ) you will be able to ride up into the back of the pickup.

Welcome Echo!

Looks like Kawasaki is coming out with a new design KLR 650. After 20 years with the old design (and many devout followers) they should know what needed updated!

Here are some more pics of the KLR (it's got some bling bling going on), plus the Councours 14 (can't wait!) and more from the Kawi dealer's show.

Welcome Echo!

Have you considered a toy hauler for your travel trailer. With those you have a garage for your bike and tools, some even include gas tanks so you can refuel your bike from the trailer. Living conditions vary according to the size (read cost) of the trailer.

Check these out: http://www.toyhaulermagazine.com/

As you can see there are many options for hauling your bike.

The KLR650 would be a good choice. Light, reliable and plenty of aftermarket accessories available.
