You do realise that Morse code is going the same way as Latin?

But then again, keeping up with the old ways can be fun too.

OK, we are being kind of rude here. This reminds me of my family speaking German in front of my wife.

When GW suggested I drink my Ovaltine, I said "only if it's diluted with Schnapps."
Now VABob sent a Morse Code message that read (in Binary) What kind of Schnapps?

I prefer Dr. McGillicudy's Mentholmint over ice, or their Licorce with a little Cola.

FYI
1 oz. Phillips Root Beer Schnapps and 1 oz of Vanilla schnapps with a can of Root Beer tastes just like an A&W Root Beer Float.

All this decoding has made me thirsty.

Whatever Schnapps you use, it would have to be at least 150 proof to burn, wouldn't it? Does anyone make something that strong? And would it add any flavors to your food?

As for the schnapps threadjack, I never heard of using ovaltine and schnapps. I've had that root beer float. Its dangerously good. Here are a couple of my favorites taste-alike recipes with schnapps:

Fireballs:
1oz Peppermint Schnapps
1oz Cinnamon Schnapps
(some people use cinnamon whiskey)

Peppermint Patty:
1 oz peppermint schnapps
1/2 oz dark creme de cacao
1 tsp green creme de menthe
5 - 8 oz hot chocolate
1/2 - 1 oz whipped cream (or cream)

If you are ever in Williamsburg, VA on a wintry cold night, go to the Trellis Cafe and have a Trellis "Coffee". One cup will warm your face with rosy cheeks and ears. Needless to say, do not drive after drinking one.

Bringing it back to camping... I wonder which schnapps can be used in an alcohol stove?
Most Schnapps is low alcohol and lots of sugar. Even if you got it to burn, you'd probably end up with a pretty gooey mess. I always thought they invented cheap vodka for camp stoves. ;)

hey bob on your way to Michigan this summer stop anywhere in Ohio and buy all the bottles of Everclear or Galen's 190 grain alcohol or buy me ...ummm i mean buy yourself a bottle of barrel proof (114 proof) kickin chicken's "Rare Breed" or one of my all time favorites
(strictly for medicinal use only) as it reads upon the artfully shaped bottle holding the amber nectar "A taste born on hoary winter nights when lonely men struggled to keep their fires lit and their cabins warm"

Ewwww! Yukon Jack? I remember once reading a review of Jack that said something like, "If you have a bottle, save it for late in the party when your guest's judgement is as unsteady as the rest of them."

Come to Wisconsin and pick up a bottle or two of yellow labeled Jim Beam Rye, not that watery Canadian stuff.

Bacardi is kinda plain jane. What are some favorite overproof rums and recipes? :D

I've never cared for rum, so I'd make a terrible pirate. :D
Just the same, it is my son's drink of choice. Although he was a dyed in the wool Captain Jack fan, lately he has switched to something called Sailor Jerry.

LOL. So true so true. The fire is left for the caskets.

I don't have a clue to what Dilligaf is talking about, maybe he started without us??

BTW- Canadians make an *outstanding* dessert wine-- Inniskillin's Niagara ice wine.

hey bob mike said he read a review ONCE about Yukon Jack however with NOONE mentioning it by name knew what i was quoting the story from the back of the bottle which is something you only memorize after drinking from the bottle many times then suggested drinking rye i think he's drank many bottles of Yukon but that cheesehead hat they wear up there has clouded his taste for the finer things next thing we'll hear is "Milwaukee's Best Light"is great beer

and by the way bob go to you local wine store and try a bottle of Mogen David in my youth i spent many hours praying i could get a bottle for a hot date any swearing to god later in the evening i would never touch it again if the room would just stop spinning

[QUOTE=VABob;37233] I'm surprised that we haven't heard from the Kentucky crew on the fine burbon family.

Those Kentucky boys are smarter than that ... They know better that to waste good whiskey tryin to light it on fire ....

You're right there George, no good whiskey in the fire! Who am I trying to kid, no whiskey period in the fire! Knob Creek is my favorite 100 and up proof whiskey. It's made in Clermont, KY by the famous Beam boys. Not that I consume a lot of it, but they have sent me gifts in the past! :lol I'm fond of Wild Turkey's Rare Breed also. P^

Bob, Bacardi has a 151 proof Rum that's pretty good. I made the mistake (on purpose :p ) of buying it for the wife to cook with. Then I had to go back and buy her some of the less volatile for cooking! It's a pretty good sipping rum.
