Location:
Falling Waters State Park
1130 State Park Road
Chipley, Florida 32428

Falling Waters State Park is just south of Chipley of State Road 77. Interstate 10 passes by to the north.

Weather:
Typically hot and humid in the summer, can reach freezing tempatures in the winter.

Campground Condition:
Relatively small for a state park at 171 acres, there is plenty of room and enough to do to keep you busy at Falling Waters State Park. It is near the highest point in the state (ok, I know that's not saying a lot), and features Florida's tallest waterfall. There are also some short but impressive trails, and a quiet two acre lake for swimming. Note that rainfall has been below normal this year, so the fall is down to a trickle at the moment.

The camping area itself features 24 well kept spaces. They are spacious and moderatly private, especially on the outer side of the road. Some sites are actually large enough to easily hold 6 to 8 dome tents.

Bathroom/Shower Facilities:
Good condition, typical well kept state park facilities.

Campground Road Conditions:
Very good condition, plus the attraction of a steep incline running into the camping area (rare for us Florida bikers).

Personnel/Host/Ranger Attitude:
Good people, and they do their best to give you the most appropriate camp site.

Area Attractions:
The Florida panhandle doesn't offer a lot other than beautiful beaches and relative quiet. Tallahassee, the state capitol, is about an hour and a half to the east, while Panama City Beach is about an hour south. Both offer plenty of attractions and shopping. Chipley should have most everything you'll need while camping, though.

Area Riding:
Floridians will be thrilled to find that we actually have hills. This is the highest part of the state, so there are some decent back roads if you head off towards Alabama. If you're from any other state, you may be a bit underwhelmed.

I think Florida has the lowest high point of all the States. I'll have to check the area out this winter.

It will be a nice change for you- it's like the old Florida. At the moment anyway. It is quickly becoming a destination for Georgians...
