Hi All,

I'm looking for a tool tube that I know a few of you use. It's the black plastic tube with bolt on tabs and screw on cap. I think it was meant to be a owners manual holder for use on tractors and farm equipment. I want 2 to put under my hard bags for spare tire tubes and tools.

I haven't found a link for it yet and hope someone can help me out.

Thanks, Guy

It's $4.99 at:

I bought 2 from them for my F650. I've not mounted them yet.

They also sell a similar one at most welding shops. We keep one tied into each of the kayaks. Before you get in the boat, you empty your pockets into it.

Hi Mike,

Yep, spare tubes, levers, tire irons, patch kit, etc. will be going in mine.

Thanks again Timmer, they're on the way. I'll post a couple pics when I get them mounted.

I stash my chain lube in mine, that way if I get a leak it won't lube up my clothes and food! :lol

I'm thinking about using fire extinguisher brackets to carry a aluminum water bottle for chain lube and engine oil. Like these:

I got the idea from this guy on ADV, he mounted them like this:

But only using one per side and none on top. I want to be able to strap dry bags on top. That way if they leak a little, no mess to clean up. And it frees up some space in the boxes for more junk I don't need to bring along.

Here's the guys whole thread in case your interested:

He's just about to finish up a 5 1/2 month journey traveling to all 48 states on a Honda XR650L. It's a pretty good story.

hey Guy,
If you haven't bought one yet, you can easily make them. I found a piece of 4" tube that was threaded on one end. I picked up two caps at the hardware store and used some bent alum. to mount it to my DL650. It took less than an hour to make and I could customize it to the length I wanted.

Or PVC with a cap on one end and a screw in plug in the other, paint it black and you're there....

Mine's just 3" PVC, with a glued cap and a screw end... Painted silver and held on with pipe clamps to my engine guard..

Mr. Guy,

Did yours come without the yellow lettering/ graphics?
I got two a year or so ago and they were just black.
The new ones I got have the yellow paint on them.
I haven't tried to rub it off. I was just wondering how yours came.

Did you say nail polish remover would remove the yellow?..

I would think that nail polish remover might melt the plastic, test it on part that won't show when mounted.

Yep, the active ingredient is acetone which dries very fast, but you already know that! :p You may have to use a few applications. I used some leftover auto paint reducer to get it off one I used, and nail polish remover to get it off another.
