Mongo- I'm heading out with my Pop for a week long camping trip this Sunday. We're wanting to take a couple of days to ride/camp in WV. The second night in WV we're staying at Teter's campground North of Albright in Preston County. The first night is still open. We'll camp at Willville on Sunday and need help with Monday. The plan is to leave Teter's Wednesday morning and pick up US 250, then head to Waynesboro to start a North to South run on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Any routes/places to camp would be appreciated. I'm not too particular about what part of the state. Just as long as the roads and camping are good.
Thanks - Rich

A great campground that I will be visiting again next Friday. This is located between RT219 and RT 92. 219 is a road made for motorcycles and sport touring :D . This road can be accesed on RT460 in VA just east of Princeton WV. Blue Bend is approxitamely 20 miles north of Lewisburg WV. Beautiful old campground get a creek side site. There is running water in the rest rooms but no showers, I bathe in the creek. 219 will take you through scenic/historic country like Droop Mountain civil war battle ground, and some nice towns. It will also take you to within 100 miles of Morgantown so you can get to your next site easily.

This is a decent campground right off of RT 20. Another good road, that will take you to RT 50 and easy access. RT20 can be accessed off of us 64, 30 minutes east of Beckley.
I am biased about Blue bend I love it. If you have questions pm me I will be at work untill 12:00 am, and check this and the ST-owners the forums during breaks for relaxation.

Mongo- Thanks for the links. We'll probably go with your recommendation to Blue Bend. Looks alright. Not too long a ride from Will's which will work great for Pop. He takes breaks often. They're call Pop stops for a reason. From there we're on to Teter's. Great place to camp. Smallish place with grassy field camping. The bath house is small but clean as Will's. Great place to pitch a tent. It's usually empty when I've been there. If you're in that part of the state and need a place to camp I recommend it. Thanks again for the recommendatioin. It's greatly appreciated.

The pop stops would be good, spend as much time as you can pop bonding! If you are heading straight north from the campground, you might want to take a few morning snacks, I don't recall a resturant until you get to Marlington, although some of the con stores might sell biscuits? Ride safe and have a good trip.

How did the trip go Rich? I was interested of what you thought about Blue Bend, most of the campers there have been returning since child hood. There is just something about that CG I look forward to, Guess it is just the peacefullnes and Rustic setting.

Mongo- We did the trip and had a blast. Pop and I really enjoyed all of what we saw in WV. Lots of great roads. Lots of great scenery. Blue Bend was great. The weather was not. The thunder echoing off the mountains sure is impressive. When we left Blue Bend the weather improved and we zig zagged between 219/28/92 several times and rode the Highlands Scenic Highway, cut across to Cass and up through Green Bank. From there we took 92 to 26 and headed up to Albright to camp for the night. The next morning we took 72 from end to end. What a great road. Part of it was a goat path, but what a ride! In route to US 250 we rode past Seneca Rocks and then on into VA. We ended up picking up the parkway around lunch time and running all the way back to Willville. 400 hundred plus miles that day. Will said that I had Pop's "Geezer Gauge" pegged. To quote a rider that we met at Blue Bend "Man, you can't get anywhere quickly in West Virginia". Thanks again for the recomendations. I'll try to drag the old man back again next year.

Let me know when you come back, I'll lead you to some dirt/fire trails you will like. By that time I might have found me an affordable dual sport, or traded the ST for a GS. :D
Yeah the wife would kill me!
