These photos are from my ride from Houston, Texas to Leadville, Colorado from July 4th - 10th. I rode to up there for the Horizon's Unlimited traveler's meeting. ( http://www.horizonsunlimited.com ) Riders came from all over the country, and we spent several days visting and riding. There were slide shows about past trips, discussions about upcoming trips and helpful seminars about many aspects of motorcycle traveling. The meeting headquarters was in a field behind a private ranch a few miles outside of Leadville. It rained most of the time, but everyone remained in good spirits because we were still in such a beautiful place. RawHyde Adventures ( http://www.rawhyde-offroad.com ) was there to talk about their trips, and they also cooked excellent meals. The best day of riding was when I rode with my friend, Oscar, and our new acquaintance, Tom, for 230 miles and we went over Cottonwood, Cumberland, and Monarch passes. I took two days to ride to Leadville, but on the way back I stopped once for lunch, and after that just for gas. It took me 19-1/2 hours to ride the 1,150 miles back home.

An unusual granite memorial on top of the pass.
I wonder if they met on the pass and stayed together, or if it was
just a one hour relationship?

Great pictures.

We were up there the week before. Had breakfast in leadville before our daily rides. We did all same passes with the addition of Weston Pass. So the rain was still there for you as it was for us. We were able to out run the rain most of the time. Good thing cause it can really come down at times. We managed to stay just ahead of it.

Many of the attendies at our event were sticking around for the Horizons event. Would have loved to have stayed and probably would had I known about it in advance. Damn work, gets in the way of everything.
