I've been working on this as time allowed since early this year.. It's now ready to go so I thought it was time to share with the board... Some of y'all knew it was coming -- the rest get a surprise!! :p :p

There's not a lot of extra storage room (just enough for my camping gear) -- just exactly what I wanted...... ;) ;) ;)

"HERE'S MY NUGGET!!!" :D :D :D :D

Awesome job! I'm jealous of your ability and creativity. You know, that wouldn't look too aweful bad behind a gold Concours... :p

Awesome Job!!!
I saw a different homemade version several months ago while seaching for trailer ideas... but yours blows it away. Fantastic application. I was thinking I might try fab'ing a version for my ST1100. Hmmmmmmmmm........

All your little nugget needs now..... is a top rack to haul more firewood!!

What strings did you have to pull to get a motorcycle sized Lic plate? When I had my Uni-go you could only get a normal sized plate, really didn't look bad, but a mc-sized one would have looked better.

Plate is a product of Microsoft Picture-It... I scanned the full size plate then worked some magic to get everything the correct size and location...

I laminated the photo - then silicone sealed a plexi-glass window into the chrome license plate frame and sealed the back side with metal tape. I'll carry the real plate inside just in case "Johnny Law" gets excited.

I just couldn't get past that huge sail hung on the back of my "Nugget" :D :D :D :D

Thank you all for the very kind words..

Some were born skilled, some had good teachers, And then some of us just aren't afraid to make fools of ourselves!! :run1:

You'd really see that if I told you about all the screw-ups and things I tried two or three times before I was happy with the out come... :D :p :dizzy1:

Would you be interested in providing any more detailed pics or drawings? I am thinking about making one of these myself. I am really interested in the suspension you built for the wheel. I also understand if you say no. Hey! Maybe your gonna build these to sell!

Yeah.. seems to me.. .you could either sell them to others that want a 1-wheel bike-specific looking trailer or, like Uni-go, sell something that is somewhat generic looking...

I would imagine you loose a lot of space for the wheel but, unlike the wing-bags, if the top hinged open you could store more not to mention having a rack on top for other stuff too...

I loved the uni-go.. didn't love the price ($1,500 per trailer and these would sell like hotcakes... of course, depends on how much to make.) ... and some have had bearing and wheel issues... so, making the wheel a common size would be nice... adding a spare tire/wheel to the tongue would also out-do uni-go in my opinion...

Yeah, I'm full of ideas but too lazy to do them myself... :D

Good points Joe. The current price tag on a Uni-Go is more than $2500 when totaled up. That's far more than I am willing to spend on a cargo trailer. Even though I really like it.
And if I were to spend that much I would expect it to be bullet proof!

Goldrush has it right. Good ol' American CAN-DO!

I just sat down and did some rough figures on the cost to build my "Nugget" :( :( :( It's amazing how quickly several hundred dollars gets invested in a project. I'm sure the $900 cold hard cash figure is on the light side. I'm guessing more like a even thousand bucks!!! :D :D :D

Now, add in the hours it took to figure out what to do, and the actual fabrication time is way more then you'd think too... It's easy to understand why Bushtec and other quality trailers cost so much once you've built a couple. This is my third trailer (maybe my last)..

Will I be building any of these for sale - NOPE!! Will I tell other how to build -- sure just ask... Shoot, I'm not looking for any corner on this market. Really, I'll be glad to give all the advise I can...

Well sir, then I'll be asking! Soon as I get some of my current projects done, I'll email you some specific questions. I already have some ideas, I'll just need some little details filled in. Thank You Sir! There may even be an extra bundle of wood in it for ya!!

Howdy Slink,

Check out my post up the page a couple steps..... ;) ;)

I'll be glad to tell you what I did..... But I don't see me building another one.. :) :) There is just too much time invested in these things to make it anywhere close to cost effective. I could work on mine as time permitted and walk away when I wanted to. If I were doing it for profit or another person I'd feel like I had to stay on the project until done.. That takes all the enjoyment out of doing these things... :D :D :D

That's because the pictures are hotlinked and the addresses being pointed to no longer exist. In other words, the pictures were stored at particular addresses on the internet and referenced in the original post as such, but they aren't there anymore. They were moved or deleted in the 7 months since the thread opened.

Yeah, my curiosity is piqued. That must be some trailer. Lemme see!

I didn't even look at the date of the original post. The thread popped up under unread posts and I didn't even think about it being an old post.

Yeah, the orig post pointed to another site for the pics, instead of attaching them here so once they're no longer at that site ... wooosh... gone. Zaaaap!... Zooowie!
