I had the seniority, so why not take the 4 day a week evening position after all I can ride more? After 2 years with the NEW position I have dropped from 20-25K a year average to 12-15K average with 3 day's off a week instead of 2!! I thought that showing up for work at 1pm I could get riding time in the morning hours, and have 1 day (sunday ) for the wifey with 2 days for riding and still keep 3 of the 4 weeks of vacation for trips man this will be great! 2 years later they are still calling me in on my day's off, asking me to work over regular and I am so much of an OT suck I cannot say no. Time and half pay is to good to turn down but my life is wasting away. What to do? Just say NO to OT? With 2 teenage boys (one in college one High School senior this year) it is hard to turn down $. With the HI Schooler almost to be a shoe in for valdictorian he should get a decent scholarship, so wait untill next year and QUIT OT? Or do the reasonable thing and just say no sometimes? What do you reasonable people say?

That's a tough one... I'd love to have the option to get some OT. Well, actually, I work the OT now but don't get paid for it... so.. there you go.
The art of balancing work, responsibilities, family and riding... I wish I had an answer for you but only you can figure that one out.. it's different for all of us... let us know what you decide.

Yeah I know that I just needed to put into words, does that make any sence at all? I guess not!

Sure it does... I used to put in 30k/year but that has backed off some... the good thing is the 15-20 I do put in are longer trips and I squeeze more into them... and I appreciate them more...
Gas was also cheaper back then... :(

Like Mellow, I don't get paid OT, either. Sometimes, being salaried sucks!
I spend lots of time with old-timers. I have never heard anyone say, "I only wish I had spent more time at work."

I was salaried also, but I was lucky I could take the day or take the pay for extra days worked but the 10 to 10 and a half hours per day was the norm. Now I punch no one's clock but my own and I have never looked back. You can't get back what has already gone by, and you don't get any younger with time, even though the bike makes you fell like you do. After you have served your time and walk out the door for the last time they won't know who you are in a week. Danny

I never have either!

I have that beat, after I walk out the door now the only time they remember me is when someone else calls in sick and they need me to cover. I told the boss he needs to also remember me when annual pay increases are due!
