I just registered and wanted to introduce myself. I have been camping / backpacking for many years and returned to motorcycling about 3 years ago. My wife and I have never done any motorcycling camping but the idea really appeals to us. We have all the gear and have done a few dry runs to see if we can get all the things we think we need on our bikes, and we can. I am looking forward to reading the trip reports and gear reviews from more experienced motorcycle campers. I am sure I will learn a lot and will do my best to contribute when ever I can.

Welcome! I like the Avatar the RR will always hold a place in my mind. Great fun bikes. I camped in 40 states on one.

Welcome to the group! I've only been moto-camping a couple years but I really enjoy the minimalism required.

Welcome!

I see you wife rides as well do you split the load 50/50? Some day I hope my wife goes with me on a motocamp ride. She was one hell of a backpacker when we first met. She might make me look bad since she packs less then me most times.

It's more like a 60/40 split she did not want the hard cases on her R1150R instead she has a set of Tourmaster soft luggage. The Tourmaster gear works well it just won't hold as much stuff as my saddle bags so I carry a little extra. If that is the only sacrifice I have to make to get her to ride with me I can live with it. I am a very fortunate man to have wife that likes to ride as much as I do.:)

Yes you are. After years Lisa is just starting to ride passenger on more than just a lunch ride, and I think that is a big step.
