The wife and I rode from Ky. to this beautiful area in N. Ga. Memorial weekend and stayed here. Tried to get reservations about 4 weeks in advance to the state parks in the area but were all booked. I know why after visiting Helen, Teluleh Gorge, Lake Rabun {Wow, awesome homes on this lake} and riding the many great twisting and well maintained roads in the area. Trackrock had good, clean showers, water and power at each site, nice and level too. Price even less than parks, $25. They were going to let us set up 2 campers on one site but the other couple had to back out at the last minute. State parks and all others would only allow one tent, camper, or other on each site.
We will definetly go back, probably next year. There are many roads and areas we didn't get to. We even missed Suches and TWO since there was so much see. We like to stop and smell the roses, not only ride.
Did I mention the bear in the campground. He just passed thru.
Check out their website. Ride safe.

I was there last week, gotta love Old Hickory BBQ! P^ A couple of buddies and I usually take a leisurely ride every Sunday and usually end up eating somewhere in Owensboro, Bowling Green, or Evansville. You're welcome to join us anytime, just let me know.

Well IMO that is the best Barbque in town. Moonlite gets all the recognition. I don't know why. I'd take Old Hickory any day.
If you want really good barbque try to hit one of the catholic church picnics on your Sunday ride. You pay 8 to 10 bucks for all you can eat and get to try it all. mutton, chicken, pork, burgoo and all the sides. You can probably go the Owensboro Catholic Diocese web and get a schedule
Thanks for the ride offer. Might try to catch up with you sometime.

I think Moonlite's biggest draw is the "buffet" style and their deserts.
During the BBQ festival we stood in a long line at Blessed Mother and ended up with a chicken and a gallon of burgoo! P^

Next year get your food at St. Pius X. I'm on the cooking team. We were the overall cooking Champs this year. We have great Bar-B-Que. I guarantee it.

Teams can start selling their pit barbque at 4pm Saturday. Until then they can only sell sandwiches or burgoo by the cup.

I try to do cheaper than that - all we need is water and a flat spot and we're good to go.
BTW, TWO is closed, but you'll find a host of bikes across the road at the gas station. They were one of the last to have ethanol free gas but were forced to comply and change over.
We stayed at Andrew's Cove just above Helen last weekend and it was okay but very close to the road, so bikes all day and some trucks by night.
DON'T FORGET TRASH BAGS: funds were cut for state parks and first thing to go was the dumpsters. We got our neighbors to haul ours out for us - pays to be nice to folks, huh?

We did try to get into Unicoi and Vogel both full up..also went to your favorite...Lake Winfield Scott...but only one spot left(some one else had JUST beat us to it) and didn't see showers... I perfer to have showers! Trackrock was a good choice!

Quadancer, glad you got to check out Andrew's Cove. There's something quaint about that little place, but I'm sorry, I should have mentioned the proximity to the main road in my review. You're right, it can be a little noisy. :o

After our hassle with the resident "caretakers", we won't be using Lake Winnie again - they pretty much ruined it for us, and were asses.
My only regret with Andrew's cove is that we went out all saturday to scrape the twisties, and had such a full weekend I didn't get to hike up the creek - I heard it's really nice up there.
