Hello all!

I came across this forum not long ago looking for some packing advice and I really liked the very friendly and well mannered attitude of everyone here, so I decided to join in!

My name is Nick and I live in Athens, Greece. Ever since I can remember myself I've been in love with 2 things: bikes and camping.
I remember back in the day watching in awe some German bikers pulling up on their fully loaded big BMW bikes... Such guys had almost mythical proportions to my eyes back then! "Bikers!"

Well, ever since then all I wanted was to be "one of them"!

So here I am now 30-odd years down the road, with many miles (or kilometers for us) and many bikes passing through my life, but with 2 things remaining the same: my passion for camping and biking.

So I'm always glad when I find people who share my passions!
You see here in Greece most guys who ride don't really view biking as a way of life but more as a "summer hobby" (especially to help pick up girls:rolleyes::mad: )...

I try going camping every chance I get (which is not so often as I would like but still..)

Just recently I updated all my camping gear after a decade of using some old and pretty basic equipment and I was amazed to see how fa everything have come in that period! P^

Lightweight mesh tents, aluminum and CF poles, ultra thin sleeping bags, utensils, etc etc. I felt like a kid in Toys r Us! :p:D

Anyway, guess I'll shut up for now and give you folks a chance to welcome me! Good to be here! P^

Hi Traveller,

Welcome to the campfire. You didn't mention if you were a native of Greece, if you are, I must say your english is very good.

Enjoy the site, Guy

Welcome to the group,
Looking forward to hearing of your travels from far away. It's always fun to see where others go and what they get into along the way. For me often times its more about the road adventure than the destination. The folks you meet along the way, a great meal in the middle if nowhere or that perfect sunset witnessed only by yourself.

I just got a new bag, it's amazing to me how 'little' it is:) When did that happen???

Looking forward to tales of Greek Camping and pictures!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! :) Something tells me that I'm going to like it here!

Yes, I am a native of Greece. Born and bred in Athens, Greece but I've lived in the UK for the better part of a decade, so this may explain the english a bit (or it could be the english speaking G/Fs, though not much talking was required :p:D)

Welcome to the site Nick! I would love to see some pictures of Greece and especially of your camping gear.

Here's a small selection of photos from our latest club ride in the north part of Greece (Parga region).

River Acheron. A place of immense beauty. The Ancient Greeks believed that this river was the entrance to the other world (Hades), where the ferryman took the souls to the underworld.

Eric I couldn't have said it better mate! It is exactly like this for me too! P^
Life on the road can be tough but for me it is all worth it... The thoughts, the emotions, the sights....

Speaking of which, I just posted a trip I had done a while back around Europe... Hope you enjoy it!

Wow. Look forward to more of the trip picks.

Does this mean we have a connection for the European gear like quality helmets and super small (yet still warm) swiss camping gear? ;)

Hehehe! By all means mate! If there's something I can help any of you with, by all means! P^ Always glad to help out my moto brothers! :)

BTW, I posted the entire trip report on the forum! Enjoy!
