Wife and I made a trip to Minnesota for Grand-daughters graduation. When we got ready to leave, we decided to start our trip home by going over to Wisconsin and taking state route 36 from the Red Wing crossing and ride down to I-90 at La Crosse. One of the highly recommended sights was at Buena Vista park at Alma Wisconsin. It was definitly worth the time to see. http://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b444/welmack1/Trip%20to%20Minnesota%202010/TriptoDavids081.jpg

Just another note for anyone traveling in the area should try the TaHaZouka Park in Norfolk Nebraska. It is right in town near the river and is a very nice place to camp. At first I was dubious but when we arrived I quickly changed my mind

Great to see that you made it up the hill to Buena Vista; it's a lovely spot!

+1
Hopefully, you were there when a plane flew over on it's approach to LaCrosse Airport. Sometimes it seems like you could reach up and touch the landing gear.
With luck, you also got a chance to try the meat loaf at the Alma Hotel.

coopdway: it is really a lovely spot. Who would have thought that little cut off in town would lead to such a beautiful spot. We saw a group of bikers there, but they were mounting up while we were still getting off the bike.

SidecarMike: We missed both of those activities. I would have loved to see an aircraft under those circumstances. It sounds a lot like the airport in San Diego and the westbound approach coming in over the ridge by downtown. As for the meatloaf, we stopped down at Trampealeau (?) at a small cafe and had their lunch special, delicious smothered steak. We missed your spot but found another to recommend.

It really was a great trip. I'm still waiting for someone to express their opinion about the park in Norfolk Neb.
