Has anyone stayed at Koomer Ridge Campground in Daniel Boone NF in Kentucky?

I think I would like to spend some time there in about 2 weeks.

Don, if you go be cautious, stay on the marked trail systems and camp spots. Not trying to scare you, but the Daniel Boone NF used to be one of the biggest pot growing spots in the country. The growers were known to "booby trap" their spots with pipe bombs, etc. From what I've read state and federal law enforcement have pretty much pushed them out to private properties. Timber and mining properties are their place of choice now, but they border the NF so just be sure you know where you are at all times.

That being said, it wouldn't bother me a bit to camp there, although I'm not an avid hiker anymore. My hiking days are over for a while, but I think you would be fine if you stayed on the trails. I'm hoping to get over to that part of the state sometime this summer. It's a beautiful area to ride through!

Do a Google search of "Daniel Boone NF and drugs" just to get an idea of what has went on in the past, and how much better it is presently.

Thanks for the advice. I wasn't looking so much for the hiking but being a good central location to do some riding. I have a Golden Age Pass and get half off at Federal Campgrounds.:)
