Its going to come up real fast now.
This time next week we'll be in Vegas.
First stop of our 11 day trip. We'll be headed to Buena Vista Colorado for the ADV West Fest.
Think I've got everything for the trip layed out on the project table and its actually all there, I think. But you always seem to forget something.
I've pre-packed the bike to see just how much room I've got left and how it all packs. DAMN! does the GS hold a lot. I've still got room left which im hoping to leave alone.
1st. day: Las Vegas
2nd.Brice Canyon
3rd. Wahweep/Lake Powell
4th. Monument Valley
5th. Arches National Park
6-7- and 8th. Buena Vista, CO.
9th. Green River, UT.
10th. Las Vegas "One more time"
11th. Next stop, Home
Summary according to Microsofts Streets and Trips.
Driving distance: 2307.5
Trip duration: 9 days, 20 hours, 57 minutes
Driving time: 41 hours, 44 minutes.
The plan is to see just how much we can throw off this Trip Summery. We've got reservations for everynight so its just a matter of everything in between.

Nice plan, you doing any dirt along the way?
Everytime I see what Trailace brings I laugh.. People say the Wing holds a lot.. .WRONG.. The GS w/Jesse Bags holds a ton, and wheighs a ton too..LOL
We have a 14 day trip planned the end of August... when it's a week away I'm not going to be able to sleep.
Ride safe and we are here if you need to be 'talked down' before the trip... LOL

Hi Keith! :)
Sounds like you've got a great trip planned. Just leave a little wiggle-room, for those "Kodak moments" that always show up.
Have a safe trip, a terrific time, and we'd love a trip report upon your return .....

Bike is finally packed with the exception of a couple of small items. Still have plenty of room left in all 3 box's. Adding the tank paniers made a differance. Was a last minute purchace which I think was a good thing. 4 of us are meeting at the top of Cajon Pass at the Summit Cafe. Along the way we'll pick up a couple of friends who want to ride along and camp with us for a couple of nights.

Have plenty memory for the camera. I always take tons of pictures. Most of our past trips can be seen in my webshots below.
Have a great trip Keith!!

Well were back. It was a GREAT! 11 days. Saw places i've only seen in pictures. The GS took me places the ST never could have.

As you can see in this picture of my GPS we went nearly 500 miles over our trip plans. When I get a chance I'll attempt a ride report. Hopefully while its still fresh in my mind.
In the meantime you can see all my pictures in my Westfest 06' album in my webshots below. Most pictures were taken on the fly and then again many were taken at times when we stopped or were in camp. I'll try to straighten everything out and finish putting titles to the rest when I have time.

Keith... great pics!... I'm only half way through them.. but it's so making me anticipate my Aug/Sep ride... You've got a steady hand with that camera... what are you using? I need a longer neckstrap for mine... can't quite get it level, but I'm usually okay 75% of the time.

Joe,
My camera is an old and trusty digital Nikon 2500. No view finder just a display. Fits in the palm of my hand. The lens rotates around to where I can take a picture of myself or behind me.

This picture show a camera strap I found in the scuba section at Sports Chalet. Relaxed its about 15" long and stretches to about 44". I keep one end attached to the tankbag. The other end with the camera attached goes into a rear pocket on my tank paniers. I've dropped the camera many times and have'nt lost it yet.:D
