Well came across an all black 2006 St1300 with only 1200 miles on it. Middle aged guy didn't get time to ride it. He was asking $8900.00 which as a dealer was a little steep for me. I spoke to him and he dropped to $8000.00. Still not where I want to be, but were very very close. My thoughts are using the ST more for my solo and Motocamping stuff. The Harley is not chromed out to the max (hate that) but has diamond cust cylinders, 21" front and 18" rear Foose wheels etc.....I always cover it at night on trips. Not a worry wort, just it's a nice bike($30,000.00) and I wouldn't be as concerned with the ST. Not trying to offend any ST owners, but less face it, a lot less chrome, more plastic and less risk of theft? So guys, I maybe an ST owner, by Monday. I'm calling him when we get back from our over night. Any feed back?

I ride an 2004 St1300 (the blue one) and I think 8 grand for a bike that can out perform most Harleys at one third the price is a steel! IMO chrome does not define the bike!

I'm guessing you aren't going to like the ST.

It's about the ride, not about what's being ridden.

I guess my buddy Ray was right (he usually was) when he said...
"Don't worry about your Honda, thieves will walk right past it to steal a HD".

If you want lots of miles and lots of smiles, the ST is a great bike... in fact, lots in the similar category FJR1300, C14, and so on, and so on...

The ST is a pretty bike IMO, but it's not a show bike... it's meant to be ridden. It's also a blast to ride.. good luck with the sale, let us know how you like it if you get it.

Go for it, I'll tell you like I told a friend of mine who bought a Busa to get his speed fix when not riding his Glide. If your friends have a problem with what you ride, you need new friends! P^

Well said Steve, unfortunately many who ride feel the need to fit into a motorcycle catagory. Personally I dont follow trends. I built a bike that suits my needs and makes me happy. I just ride, camp and explore and continue to smile along the miles and get to meet some very nice folks along the way.

Well heck, as long as he is still riding and camping, I'm pretty sure he will still fit in right here. ;)

Yep I really care what people think, however when it came to promoting my business, I just could not roll up on a ST1300, BMW or Goldwing. That just won't fly. I have been in Sturgis and rolled out my R1 that's built to the hilt and caught some Sh%^$$ and told them to get over it. Also never had an issue parking at the bars there with it. My real love is the open road and seeing the sights. There's something about stopping on a hillside like in Sturgis and smelling the pines, looking at the rolling countryside and just thanking god for giving you that oppertunity to be doing what your doing!
(Also add...thank god and bless all the men and women fighting for us to allow us to do so).

Yep....I agree with you "G" however that's the way it is. You can own a Chevy Dealership and ride up in a Ford. Sends your customers mixed signals. Like I said, though I have ridden my R1 and that's not even close to a HD touring bike. Now 15 years or so ago, you just wouldn't do that in Sturgis.

If you get that ST for 8K you stole it. IMO.

Go ahead and get the ST it will give you a lot of enjoyment and as long as you put gas in it, change the oil and tune it up once in a while it will outrun, outride and be a heck of a lot more fun than any v-twin out there.:D
