When anyone is looking for a good place for a few days, you might try Palo Duro Canyon about 20 miles south of Amarillo. Very nice place to spend a few days. Right now they are filling up on weekends and will soon be on weekdays also, so it would be best to call several days ahead of your planed trip and make reservations.

I just replaced the pictures and I think they wilol be better than the others. (5/12/2010)

Nice! I grew up in Killeen Tx and have been wanting to take a trip to Palo Duro Canyon sometime when I take the motorcycle home but have not gotten around to it. Thanks for sharing...

Palo Duro Canyon is a great place to hang out for a few days. Last time I was there I met Mellow on my way back from Alaska.

I went there about 5-6 years ago with a truck and a 5th wheel, but just an overniter (get in, get out) we went in late Oct. I REALLY didn't like the 10% grade. I was thinking about a MC ride/camping experience there, but I kinda got cold feet. :( I woulda liked to have spent about 2-3 days there as I couldn't get over all of the wild turkeys there, just wandering around. I loved the colours of the rocks and the "peacefullness" of it all.
