Ok here we go.....I can't tell you how much I enjoy reading about all the trips. Since I've turned 50 I've gotten out on some long distance rides on the Ultra and love it (not much of a solo guy though). I've been thinking about buying a second bike. I do love sport bikes, but with my shop they really dont go(Hard core HD shop). Anyway,(living two life styles hahaha) thinking of getting a ST1300 and maybe even a trailer. Happen to find a ST1100 1998 with only 13,500 miles just had been serviced and new tires put on it. Couple things, one the ST's do not have radios, correct? But the Goldwings do.

How are the older ST1100 vs buying a newer ST1300? Any thought or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

www.st-owners.com is the place to go if you want to know about STs.

The ST1100s and ST1300s are not much different... some styling changes.. Some guys thing the ST1300 was a huge improvement and some guys with they'd kept their ST1100...

That ST1100 is very lightly used.. heck, I've got an '08 w/35k on it and I don't ride much..

You want he '95+ 1100s as they have 40 amp alternators in them, I think it's pre '95s that had the 28 amp ones.

Welcome!

That's an outstanding sounding 1100, extreme low miles. Means there is lots left.

I just sold my '93 with 106,000 and it has a long ways to go yet:)

Joe's right. Head over to STOwners, there is more info there than you can digest!

Big Dog. ST-Owners is the place for ST info. I myself love my 93 ST1100, unluck some others. :-) J/K Tom. Anyway, BigDog, you just happen to be right in the middle of 2 Ride To Eats happening this weekend, where there will be ST Owners. One in Fort Wayne, IN and the other in Richmond Center, WI. Further details can be found at ST-Owners. Unfortunately, I will not be at either or I could let you check out my 1100. There will be plenty of 1300s at each place. Mellow is correct about the year, I think the '96 was the first 40amp altenator equipped bike. The '98 sounds good, check the seals and such as the miles are pretty low.

Hope the cross talk about another forum was ok.

+1...

Here's the Ride To Eat sub-forum on STO sorted by date/state so you can see if there's one that works for you.

They are a friendly bunch so don't worry about riding a non-ST to the gatherings.
