Good Morning All: Never had much time to do all the fun things in life; too busy feeding babies; but now that I have some leisure time a few other geezers and I are going to take an extended ride from Canada to Mexico along the Continental Divide, roughly. We will take our time, wander around, see things within a reasonable distance, and just generally see the sights.

As an ancient novice, I seek and appreciate all advice and input on things to see, things to avoid, what to carry, what to leave home, what gear is best, what is junk, etc. We will camp some, motel some, and spend lots of time enjoying our great nation and taking lots of pictures.

Hope to meet some of yall along the way, have a cuppa coffee, swap some lies, and make a new friend or two while on our 'Grand Mosey of 2010'.

Welcome hilligan,

Sounds like a great ride. Traveling off road, your biggest challenge is packing light while still having what you really need. It's a fine line between having enough and to much weight. And mostly it's a personal preference thing, what works for me may be to much for you or visa versa. I'd say a few test runs will help sort it out for you, week end camp outs before the BIG trip.

Good luck and have fun, Guy
