I live in South Louisiana. In 2 weeks, I will be leaving on my DL1000 for some work in Missouri. A couple of days travel, couple of days work, then I"m headed cross country to visit my son in Ventura, CA.

I"ll be taking a northern route from Missouri, into Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado,
NM, Utah, Arizona(Grand Canyon, never been), Nevada(hope to meet Ben Cartwright at the Ponderosa near Virginia City, then to California, into Ventura by avoiding Los Angeles.

If anyone has some must sees, good sights food, hot ex girlfriends who need lunch bought for them, superb camping sites, etc. ANY input appreciated.

Really my first trip out west on surface streets, so I'm working to get the best events, geographical nuggets, food, people, historical sites etc. crammed into about a 2 week period as possible.

Thanks, I plan to send pics.

Sorry to burst your bubble reference the Ponderosa Rch. but the attraction (house theme park where the filming took place) was actual at Incline Village Lake Tahoe but it is now closed.

The drive around Lake Tahoe is very nice, need to stop at Emerald Bay and walk down to Viking's Holm. The West side of the lake is the most scenic. Virginia City Is a nice stop to see how some of the old west was. Donner Lake off I-80 you can stop at the State Park and see where part of the Donner may have camped and the statute show how deep the snow was, They determined this by where the party had cut of tree tops for fire wood.

If you happen to come thru Reno there is lots to see within a short distance from desert to alpine lakes.

Oh don't have any Ex's available but there is the Mustang Ranch museum and other legal houses of illrepute available near by.:D

Oklahoma also has more original miles of Route 66 than any other state too.

R Snyder, Nothing was filmed at Ponderosa Ranch in Incline Village.

Take a trip down memory lane on the history of the Incline location. ( Check the link below ) The rest of the story in about half way down the page. We took our boys there every time we camped in the area. The breakfast ride was fun and there are a couple of the tin cups still laying around in the garage. Being a fan of the show, it was a fun place to see.

I'll be on the road from Missouri to Folsom CA around that time. Will be in a few of those areas (NM,AZ) after a run down to Big Bend NP maybe we'll cross paths. Good luck, stay safe.

Take a trip up to Monterey via the Pacific Coast Highway through Big Sur. Some of the most breathtaking scenery and riding I have done. Stop and have fish and chips at the tiny Lucia Lodge, their fish and chips has been rated #1 by several food and travel magazines. Another great place to eat is at the Ventana Inn and Spa. We couldn't afford to stay there, but their restaurant has to be one of the best places I've eaten. P^
