Hi All,

Since I've started riding to work and I often leave home before sun up, I've been trying to think of a way to be more visible in the dark. And I think I've come up with something. I stopped by AutoZone and picked up a package of reflector sticker strips, like the ones used on semi trailers. They are the Blazer brand of strips and these things are bright. They come in a package of 4-18" strips, about 1/3 is white and 2/3 red. I cut the strips up into shapes that would fit in various places all over my DR. Swing arm, fenders, outside edge of handguards, you name it, I put one there.

These pics were taken at night with only the flash on my CHEAP camera. Can you see me now?

As I ride a small thumper dual-sport, I don't have a lot of charging capacity to run lots of lights and this looks like it will work out well.

I will admit I may have gone over board with how much I used, but hey, I already bought the package, shouldn't let them go to waste.

It's really cool that there is black and white retro-reflective tape so that it's not conspicuous in the daylight hours, but really lights up at night. Don't forget to put some on your helmet.

When driving the car in the dark I appreciate those that add reflective stuff on their bikes. It really adds to their visibility

Riding a Goldwing,I've added lots of lights, and also have added reflective decals on my helmets from Applied Graphics.I'm told they really stand out.
They come in several colors.Originally,I had a black kit on my black helmet. You didn't see it in the daylight.I recently added a black kit to my wife's new white helmet, and made it look kinda cool.
They also make kits for saddlebags on some motorcycles.

This holds true for pedestrians as well. We live on a lake where walking is almost as popular as boating and drinking. Many times we come upon a walker dressed in dark clothing, wandering down a narrow county road.
My wife and I have gotten in to the habit of wearing safety vests when walking, even in the middle of the afternoon. It's like a seat belt in a car. It's a lot easier to remember if you use it every time.

Thanks guys,

Thanks for the safety-gear link Mike, I've been looking for some reflective ribbon for sewing onto my saddlebags. They could use some more.

This may be a mute point...but don't forget to "highlight" the most important part.........YOU! I wear a reflective bright yellow vest, white helmet and light colored overpants........."with padding"! After being knocked off my bike in a "rear end" event....landing on asphalt at speed is really hard on the hips!

Another point I have learned ..."ride your bike" where "they can't get to you"..whenever possible!

I always wear armor on the road, with reflective stripes and piping on it. ATGATT as they say. And I try to be very conscious of staying out of blind spots and such. Rarely going over 70 too. Mostly 60-65. Kind of a wimpy rider really I guess. LOL

I guess I look at like pilots, there are old riders and there are bold riders, but no old and bold riders.
