I'm looking for a socket that I can mount to the Bunkhouse. I'm looking for something that has a 15 amp male plug, so I can just plug in a normal extension cord. I had one that fit a normal outlet box, but my son used it to bring electricity to his little utility building behind his trailer house. It came off of a 70's vintage camping trailer, but the camper places all look at me like I'm insane. It's just a little lid that lifts up and has a male plug inside.
Any ideas?

Mike I'm thinking that a plug for a block heater might work for you. Check with some truck stops or truck parts places. They have the weather proof cover that is spring loaded. Or a plug for a trolling motor in a boat. I'll see what I can find and get back to ya.

Mike,

I know exactly what you're looking for, as I put one in a Toy Hauler I built a while back. Check at your local R.V. dealer, or an R.V. Supply Outlet.
The Suppy Outlet is where I got mine.
Let me know If ya can't find one ... I'll go get ya one ...

Here is the first one I found online. The ones on road tractors have a chrome or stainless spring loaded plate, this looks to be a rubber plug cover that is waterproof.

Perfect! Thanks everyone. Believe it or not, Saturday I was to two RV dealers and two different Marine Supply houses. In each case they tried to sell me 25 and 50 amp stuff, claiming that's all that is available. I'll order a couple of them, one for the camper and one for the pontoon.
I was googling for a 15 amp socket and coming up blank.

You want a leviton 4937 -- you can pick them up for under $20.00 if you look around.

Mine came today. Well made and reasonably priced. They even have a protective boot for inside the trailer. The dust cover is like an automotive gas cap. It is a ring that snaps over the barrel, so it is replaceable if the need should arise.
