As I’m doing maintenance and putting together the ’91 ST1100 that I just bought I’m debating my set up for storage/luggage. My short term goal for a planned 4500 mile 2 up camping trip this summer with my wife is to keep the stock backrest but have a luggage rack to strap down one of Jo’s U-Pacs on. The rest of the year I would like to have a top box for around town and solo trips.
So does anyone with a Bestem box think it would be possible to use a longer bolt and mount the backrest on top of the Bestem mounting plate and still have room to strap a U-Pac bag onto it? Or do I just leave off the stock back rest and say “Sorry Honey, the bag is now you back rest.”
