As some of you may know, I am somewhat of a tech junky.
So check out this new application I just found for mobile phones of several formats.
It is called Glympse and it can be used in many different ways but with the security of only having it running when you want it to and to whom you want to show it to...

Check out the website and the video of the CEO of Glympse and see if this might be something you could use or would like to have.

With my new droid, I was using latitude. Latitude takes awhile to refresh. It would be nice to combine this with tweetup. Also, if you could remote start this then it would be nice if someone stole your phone.

I think this would be a great app for leading a group ride.

Thanks for the link!

This would absolutely be great for group rides or any ride where others need to know where you are. I too used to have latitude for Google maps but as you said, it took quite a bit of time to update and it required signing up with both or all phones have to have it installed along with other inconvenient setups. This app does not and is VERY easy to use. As far as the remote access/startup, this can be suggested to them for future updates.
This can even be sent to emails so someone on a PC can see it, no app to install on the receiving end, just click on the link. I like all the possibilities and uses of this as they are endless.

I use Glympse. I let it run while powered by the bike. Without it plugged in, my battery will be fully drained in two hours. My wife loves to follow my rides. It is a great little application. Other things that need improvement are the fact that if you get an incoming call or text the glympse will pause until you stop and re-activate. You also have to have data/cell/wi-fi service before the glympse is first initiated, due to it having to connect with the Glympse server.

Overall, I will continue to use it.
