Who's up for a mid-July camp-out in Washington?
I've just made a reservation at Dash Point State Park in Federal Way, Wa for July 16-17, 2010.
http://www.parks.wa.gov/parks/?selectedpark=Dash+Point
The attraction? Well, the ride of course! Oh, and did I mention there's an air show going on at McChord AFB Fri-Sun. Yeah baby!!
There's room for 2 more tents. You coming? You know you want to!
So far the lineup is shaping up like this...
Patriots Jet Team
Mig Fury Fighters
Jacquie B
CAF P-51 Red Tail
Tim Weber <--- Sort of an acquaintance of mine. Well, an over the phone acquaintance. Long story I can tell around the campfire.
John Klatt (ANG)
USO Jet Car
Kent Pietsch (jelly belly)
T-33 Ace Maker
In addition we can expect the following military participation:
C-17 Demo
C-17 3 ship airdrop demo
ACC demo
Heritage Flight
Navy Demo
Navy Legacy
Airfield assault
Warbird Review
ITINERARY:
7/16 (Friday) I figure I'll get off work a few hours early that afternoon and take the superslab to get up there (departing from the Portland, OR metro area) and set up camp.
7/17 (Saturday) Spend most of the day at the airshow (McChord AFB, Tacoma).
7/18 (Sunday) will be a leisurely, back-roads trip home. I'm open to route suggestions from anyone else who's headed southward!
I'm figuring on a mix of cooking in camp and eating out but I lean toward mostly campsite meals. It's all negotiable.
I procured an RV camp site for 3 reasons.
I like blacktop to pitch my dome tent on (clean, dry, level).
Running water on-site -- very handy for cleaning up from cooking.
AC power on site (super handy to recharge phones, headsets or whatever else might need juice)
The site is conveniently located near shower/restroom.
I'm posting this to another list too so if you want dibbs on a spot, get yer calendar checked and drop me a note asap.
The campsite fees split three ways would be just $20 each. I MIGHT be able to procure some air show tickets too but I won't know that til much later on.
There's room for 2 more tents. Who's with me?
RSVP!
