Hi Folks,
Just found this thread a few weeks ago (was snow and iced in)
Well for my first attempt here's my 2 cents worth.
Box of Tuna Helper
As many cans of Tuna (in water) as desired. P38s come in handy here
As many cans of mixed or other veggies as desired.
Mix all (including the water in the cans) in pan over stove.
Almost no need for extra water for cooking. No ice chest needed. Leave pan in creek (tied down with a string) for easy clean up of left in food particles. Wash in the morning before breakfast.

Sounds good! P^
I came across a P-51 at the local army surplus store that is just a little larger than the P-38. Works easier with it's slightly longer handle. I've got one stashed with my utensils.

Bobalou and Steve, I carry a real can opener. Only about 4X the weight but 50X more convenient when it comes to actual can opening time. :D
I use the dried, flavored noodles or rice packets (Knorr?) plus a can of tuna or other canned meat. Or, the individual Kraft Mac 'n Cheese cups. Heat some water in yur pan, add the tuna into the M'nC cup, add hot water to bring it up to the line, then, put that cup back into the pan of boiling water (careful on water levels.) Let it heat up some more for a few mintues 'til the macaroni is tender. NO cleanup, just throw foam cup into the fire when finished.

Don't feel alone, I don't care for tuna either ... Don't like the smell, or the after taste ... :p

Wow, I was afraid I'd get flamed if I confessed to hating canned fish. My wife eats the stuff for lunch two or three times a week and it turns my stomach every time I smell it.
Now Spam, on the other hand, is the food of the Gods!P^

The guy that owns the cabin next to me is a mainframe programmer for Hormel. He occasionally brings me a six pack, but I prefer the original recipe. The Low Sodium isn't bad, but the Spicy and the Hickory ones are just plain bad. If you ever find me at a campground, I usually have a spare can.
I haven't tried the Turkey. I grew up on a Chicken farm, so I still don't eat birds.:D

Whats ya got for Spam recipes? Anything good?

It's too good to mess with recipes. I just cut it up in my scrambled eggs, or cube it and add it too a small can of Sour Kraut. I even found that a can of sliced potatoes, a pint of 1/2 and 1/2, a little bisquick, and some Spam can make a decent pan of scalloped potatoes.
The only problem is that the cans are too much for one person so you have to find a way to keep it cold or invite a neighbor over for lunch.

for all you tuna haters if your open to any other seafood there's salmon, canned popcorn shrimp(really small shrimp), clams, oysters lots of seafood choices
if seafood is out of the question go to wal-mart you can get cooked hamburger.ham in a can (i am)(couldn't resist that)"steak"slices, chicken, etc.
other ideas good quality beef jerky regular,BBQ,teriyaki, bourbon are good flavor choices add to ramen noodles 10 min cooking will soften the jerky quite a bit and add good flavor
by the way throw out the flavor pack that comes with the ramen noodles and use low sodium beef or chicken bullion I prefer soft or powdered bullion instead of the hard little cubes

A lot of them are for freezer bag cooking too. Very easy.

Have you tried solid white chunk albacore packed in water (BumbleBee brand)?
Tuna in a can is rather disgusting and I don't eat it.
But the albacore doesn't smell like dead fish.
Kind of like eating budget brand mayo versus Best Foods (or Hellmans in some parts of the country), or budget peanut butter vs Jiff or Skippy. Some of those peanut butters have the flavor and texture of peanut flavored lard.
But, G wizz...now I know how to keep you out of camp in Big Bend...I just keep cooking tuna fish!

When I was a kid, the Hellman's ad said, "Bring out the Hellman's and bring out the best." Always thought they meant it was the best mayo 'til we got out here. Best Foods is the manufacture and it's branded Best Mayo in the west. Live 'n learn.
I like tuna, Chicken of the Sea white in water.
I like "generic" peanut butter, Krogers smooth.
I like REAL may, Hellman's or Best. But, it's just vegetable oil and eggs. The commercial stuff has had so many things added to keep it from going bad that it's actually a picnic preservative now. :D
Haven't had Spam in years, prolly need to try it.

Yeah, I know, but sometimes it's fun to invite the neighbors over. P^
And honestly, I've never had any left over Spam. Worse comes to worse I fry it and throw it on a bun.

Dang guys! I just wanted to add to the recipes a little.
But the ideas are still "flowing in", good job! The idea with Tuna was a small can (packability).
I tried the ramen and soup tonight, not bad. Chicken soup does help a Cold!

The wife and I visited a small store near here today. They sell most of their food in bulk. It got me to thinking summer. ;)
I'm constructing a pantry in a saddlebag. One of my favorite comfort foods is Mrs. Grass Chicken Soup. Maybe because it doesn't really have chicken in it. Anyway, they sell the fine noodles in bulk as well as the seasoning. A tablespoon full in a cup of hot water, even without noodles, is a great pick me up after a cold or rainy ride.
I'm building single serving packs in old seasoning jars and other small containers. They have dozens of different soup mixes, cake mixes, and such.
There is probably a store like that near you.
Where else do you ask for 2 ounces of beef gravy mix and a half cup of flat noodles?
They also have a "Build your own Trail Mix" section.P^ Many of their prices were such that I may retire my dehydrator.

I bought a bunch of Krogers stuff today, several flavors of pre-seasoned rice (beef, chicken, broccoli, etc.) Also a can of white meat chicken, same as a can of tuna. Deba suggested Spam but I ain't ready for that. :D
Bought some fresh blueberries, gonna try a variation on B'nB's cherry cobbler. :D
