I had a gift cert for a local sporting goods store left over from Christmas.

This is the only thing I could find that I wanted to give a try.

This is very nice, packs away at about 1/2 it's open size and bright but not blinding.

Here's a fairly good price for them:

I like these lights. We have learned a couple of things about them. If you store them extended, they tend to slowly drain the battery. This should not happen if stored collapsed. It also automatically shuts itself off when you collapse it all the way.

We have two of these. 1st one=no problems at all.
2nd one=Coleman had some issues with the circuit board. The lantern would burn for a while and then shut itself off. Turn it back on and same thing. Tried cycling thuough the settings and the thing would go wacky.

I contacted Coleman and they acknowledged the problem immediately. The same day a replacement was on the way.

Since, no problems with either light. They throw decent light, enough to cook with for late night meals. Lights up the inside of a tent quite well. It also lights up a campsite easily without a blinding glare.

I know I have posted here before about the LED micro lanterns I have used over the past few years.

http://yourcornerstore.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3113_3138_3143&products_id=9265

They are very small, run for 25 hours or so on the batteries and are super easy to pack. The ones I use did not come with a keychain attatched and were labled as an Eddie Bauer product, but they are the same item. Mine came as a 4 lantern set. I use a couple of them for light around the campsite, they are great for attracting insects away from the picnic table or seating area. I also use one inside my tent. I use a small LED headlamp for cooking and for light brighter than what the lanterns put out. If your into Micro gear they are a charm..

Sorry if this is a thread highjack... more of a heads up option if anything...
