This motorcycle campground is located on highway 31 along the shores of Kootenay Lake in British Columbia . The campground is located just minutes from Ainsworth Hotsprings and highway 31 is one of the best twisting bike roads I've ever ridden . Mary , the lady that owns this place , has done a great job of creating everything you'd want from a campsite. The shower and washroom facilities are first rate . I paid 15$ to spend the night . It was worth every penny . Check out the website and if you're every in this area of B.C. keep this place in mind . http://www.toadrockcampground.com/

On our way to Alaska, I had planned on staying there.
But, alas, we took a different route.
I was sold on the place just by their website.
Next time up, we are stopping by.
Thanks for reminding me of the place, I'll "re"-bookmark it.

Hmmm ..... thought I did a review on this campground .... but guess it didn't get past the :think1: stage! :dizzy1:
Anyways, like STraddler says, great little Motorcycle Only Campground, basically in the middle of some of the greatest riding roads that BC has to offer. Great scenery and free ferries. P^P^
Mary is a wealth of local knowledge and will really go out of her way to make your stay a great one.
Ainsworth Hot Springs is 10 minutes away and a great place to soak those bones after a long day in the saddle($7)
There are 2-3 great loop rides in the area, so a great place for a base camp.
Avoid it during the Toad Rock Rocks event, as it is super crowded and the best sites(not all that many) are used by the helpers/bands) Most other times, it's not crowded and I once had the place all to myself for 3 nights(end of May) There are 7 - 10 good campsites and a number of small cabins. There are also a couple of 'shelters' for your bikes, scattered around the campground
Very clean bathhouse and the 'Pavilion' is the 'Social Centre'!

I was actually thinking of booking this place, then I saw the comments about crowds... I am on vaca and avoid those if possible...as it is I will be travelling at a nasty time of year for tourists...I think I will wait for my tourism maps and c/g pkgs to trickle in... I was just going to wing it and just ride to c/g's as I go along but realize it might be best to try to have a plan on my way back thru my country...
