Eastern Slope of CO camping?

Hi!

Where is a good place to camp in the NE quadrant of Colorado? I'll be heading over there in September from KC. Don't want to try to get too far up in the mountains after 12 hours of plains.

Brush is one spot right on the way (US36), but I know nothing about the town other than it has free camping in the city park for one night.

Basically looking for something on the Front Range area.

I see Jackson Lake SP here, just a little further west from Brush.
