I will be running the Blue Ridge May 22-26 and was looking for some good campgrounds along the way. You guys got any ideas?

Sandman- You are in luck. 2 great M/C only campgrounds along the BRP. The first is the Blue Rigde Motorcycle Camp in Cruso NC just 5 or 6 miles North of the parkway on US 276. Start looking for US 276 around mile marker 412 or 415. Turn right (north) towards Wayesville. You'll drop a couple thousand feet in elevation in the next couple of miles. After you're on the bottom the campground is 4 or 5 miles on your right. Look for the sign that says Motorcycle Drive. If you pass an old rail car on your left you just missed the place by about 50 feet. The next spot is Willville M/C camp in Meadows of Dan VA. Will's place is a mile and a half North of the parkway on US 58. Very easy to find. US 58 is at mile marker 177.7. Just turn north towards Hillsville and look for the sign on the left. Make sure that you're on Bus US 58. Meadows of Dan has been by passed, but the parkway only has an exit onto Bus 58. If you go north up bus 58 and you end up at the 4 lane bypass just look at 7 o'clock over your left shoulder and you'll see Will's sign. BlueRidge and Will's are a nice day ride apart. Roughly 240 parkway miles. It takes me 6 hours of ride time between the two. Add to that the time it takes for lunch, over looks, gas, naps, etc. etc. Have fun. I'll be up that way starting this weekend for my annual week long ride/camp trip with my Pop. Can't wait!

Sandman, not putting the MC onlys down (I love them both) Linnville Falls is a great campground, with excelent scenery (if you don't mind walking to the falls) I think it was $7 a night last year. If you are heading south it will be on your right, can't remember the milepost, but well marked. Sorry, when I am on the BRP I don't watch mileposts I just relax.:D

Thanks guys,

Rich, thanks for the info. I hope you and your dad have a great ride.

I'm really not particular, the campground doesn't have to be motorcycle only.

I'm hoping to make it to the parkway by Wednesday May 24, and returning home thru West Virginia by Memorial Day.

A suggestion if going home through WV from the BRP. RT. 16 North is just south of Fancy Gap VA on the BRP. Treat yourself and take this route, Great little known road. Plus you can stay at Houngry Mother State Park Campground in VA, right on RT 16! With a name like how can you pass?

Hey Gordon,

I'll also be up on the Parkway & Skyline Drive from 5/18 - 5/28. Starting out at the southern point on the parkway and heading north, then returning. I'll be at Blueridge MC the 18th and 19th, then Rider's Roost the 20th, Willville the 21st, Otter Creek the 22nd, Loft Mtn. the 23rd, and Matthews Arm the 24th. Then I'll most likely head south in reverse order. I may be too far north on the 24th to run across you - but keep an eye out for a '05 red ST with several duffel bags strapped in front of the top box!
