Hi all,

In May 06' I trailered (sinful word?) the bike to Killeen Tx from Md and then took a trip to Big Bend. Covered 1,363 miles in three days, not bad. Lots of fun. Hooked up with a Houston Gold Wing group outside Sonora and joined them to Ft. Davis State Park. They had a few harley's tagging along in the rear (loud pipes they said, mine are stock) so I fit right in. I learned on Tx Hwy 17 how nimble the big Gold Wings were on twisties, I couldn't hang, but I really was not in a hurry anyway. I was surprised how hot it was in May. Pretty much unbearable. I had to put my rain suit on to protect my arms from burning too badly. Sure did sweat alot with that on. I don't recommend riding in Big Bend between April and Oct unless you are prepared. Otherwise, some fascinating scenery and roads. The next to last picture is the Rio Grande River. Mexico is on the other side. P.S. Watch out for the Roadrunners!

Great pictures David! I gave up trying to keep up with the Gold Wings too, it's rough on the floorboards! :p

Chris,

What I did not mention was that I tried to keep up with them using all the riding skills I had. Those dudes were all older than me! Alas, I decided I wanted to live to ride another day and let the Wingers go. They sure were having fun!!

Great pictures David! I learned to wear a light weight/light colored long sleeve shirt over my T-shirt when riding out there for sun protection. I had blisters on my hands inbetween my thumb and fingers where my gloves didn't cover completely.
