Big Bend 11/09

Well this was a short trip, kind of last minute. Four days and just over 2000 miles. This is my first ride report so bear with me...
I left Cameron, Ok. just after 6:00am and stopped at Monahan Sandhills State Park for the night at about 7:30pm.

Got a late start the next morning and hit the road about 9:30am. Got to Fort Davis early afternoon and checked out the campgrounds but it was still too early to stop for the night. These guys were just roaming the campground.

Got to Terlingua and looked around a bit before heading to the park.

Finally made to the park but it was starting to get late so I headed on to find a campground.

Ended up at the Rio Grand Valley Campground for the night.

I got up the next morning and headed for the Chisos Basin Campground and set up camp. Much better campground.

Once I got camp set up I unloaded and headed out to find some dirt.

Found some really nice back country campspots that I will probably take advantage of next time.

Got back to camp around dusk and settled in for the night.

Got up early the next morning, on the road by just after 6:00 am. Pulled in the driveway at the house at 10:00pm, long day but I am ready to go back.

Great report Tom. Looks like you had great weather and the park almost to yourself.

I get to thinking that I want to go to Mexico and places south until I see wonderful pics like these. It reminds me that we have awesome places here in the states to see before heading off somewhere out of the country.

Great Pics! I camped at Big Bend a few years ago on my bagger and really enjoyed it although it was really hot in May and of course stuck stuck to the blacktops (literally). I was in TX visiting my family and decided to go to Ft. Davis Campground and Big Bend. Ran into a bunch of Houston Gold Wingers and joined them. Had a really good time. Your pics blow mine away. I will post some pics of my trip. I want to do it again someday.
