Hello Everyone,
I can't sleep on the ground anymore but I've had great experiences with cots. Air matresses don't do it for me either anymore. I'm looking for a cot that breaks down to a reasonably small package. It doesn't have to be the lightest or the smallest in the world when assembled, but it would be nice if it breaks down so that I can pack it across the passenger seat with my tent. I would like for the package to be NO wider than the saddle bags if possible.
Also, I would like to know how are you transporting additional fuel for a camping stove? I've been away from the camping scene for quite a while so I don't know what is available.
What type of lanterns or sources of light are popular for moto-camping?? I'm not talking about a small flashlight for reading, but a serious light source for general campsite activities.
Thanks,
David

David Welcome!
I can?t help you on the cot but as for a light Joes works great here is a link to his review.
That thing will light up the whole campsite. (Lantern) (http://www.motocampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=57)
As for fuel it depends on the gear you have if it?s white fuel or gas you can?t go wrong with MRS bottles here is a link to that. Fule Canisters (http://www.motocampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=181&highlight=bottles)

Welcome to the site.
If I were to start over, I'd probably not go with the campinggaz setup as it's too specific and you won't find it at your local walmart.
I'd go with a lantern that accepts any kind of fuel and a stove that is the same. That way, you're really never 'out of luck' as you could always find gas somewhere.
Here are some cots at campmor.com:

Here are some at cabelas.com:

If those don't help, here's a link to the online resources page we created on this site that might help you narrow things down a bit:

Here's the cot I use.

I particulary like how small it packs down. And I find it very comfy.

The Voyager Compact Cot looks like it'll work - 6" high, packs down to a 30" long by 3"x6" rectangle - small enough to carry on the bike. And a third the price of the Camping Kot (above)
