Hey guys........... Chuck here. We are having our annual Tour de Tellico gathering at Cherohala Motorcycle Resort this weekend and I wanted to pass on some activities that may interest you......

Erik from Twisted Throttle is putting on an "I'm Packing" demonstration for Adventure Touring, Thursday afternoon (not sure of time just yet), if anyone is interested.

If you guys can come out on Sat. night, Buck has got RB Stone playing country, blues, and southern rock at 8:00pm. He has performed with Marshal Tucker Band, Trishia Yearwood, Charlie Daniels, and others.

Sunday Morning, CMA will be having a devotion and a Bike Blessing soon afterward.

Have a great weekend and I'm sure we'll see ya out and about!!!!!

Sounds like a good time. I am going to be back and forth between the two events. Cannot wait to meet everyone!

Thanks, Dan got the PM and enclosed my number also. Just looked at the weather again, good for me bad for you guys. I'd have to rearrange a ton of stuff that's being done at a house we are putting up for sale and "if" it's all rain it wouldn't be as enjoyable. Especially for my first time out.....probably end up under a picnick bench with a tarp on it at this stage. However judging by the comments on the forum and the group going, you guys are still going to have a gas, even if it does rain. Be safe all and enjoy!!

Yup.. rain is just water.. most of us need a shower anyway as we forget to... LOL

Sorry you won't be making it but the bug is planted so I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

Mellow, you don't understand. What you and the rest of your gang did is not a bug it's an infestation!!! LOL I just called and set us up as a hitch Doc, waiting for that to go through and then order mine out. Then I wasted half my day sitting at my desk, looking at trailers etc......thinking I like Aerodyne. My thoughts are that it takes time to set up a trailer.......why not just pack a nicer, larger tent and then all your creature comforts and save $1500.00 - $2000.00. Dam....watch I'll be hopping on the bike tomorrow and riding out. I do crazy stuff like that. Is REI open all night.....oh wait Walmarts is?

Keep the faith!! Praying for clear weather for you guys!!!

BigDog, don't be in a hurry to get it all at once. There's plenty of time and an infinite amount of gear out there. It will adopt you in good time.

So I just ordered up 25 burgers and a half-dozen each of brats and Italian sausages. I'll pick them up at the butcher tomorrow evening. I may have to bungee a cooler on top of all the other luggage (I'm also the official beer provider for the Ripshod/MacJohn contingent), but one way or another I'll get it there.

I think that if we put the cookout off till Saturday night it'll give us more time to plan and shop since at least some of us might get there later in the day on Friday and not necessarily in the mood to go shopping.

Here's wishing you all and the ones already on the road, a safe and not too wet journey. See you here.

Between 400-500 tomorrow to Jackson, MS to meet up w/Trailace coming from Houston, then Friday, we'll have 440 or so to get there and hang out with folks...

Saturday we'll wake up and probably hang out with everyone for a bit before a 600 mile day back to the Jackson, MS area..

Not real long days, just 1/2 days.. LOL

Well I made it to Maggie Valley(510mile). I only hit rain for 10 or 15miles. The trick to that is ware your rain sute and it won't rain. I will be over at Hunts tomorrow early. See you guys as you get there. Please ride safe.

Groundhog.....that was very cool to offer. I keep looking at the weather, running solo and trying to get this spare house done. I would say it would be very doubtful, now if the sun comes up, it's less than 30 mins to pack and off I go.

I'm shocked at the run Joe is making for an overnight! I sure hope some one plans another one soon in the midwest! Like Joe said, I've been bit by the bug. It's killing me reading about everyone making the trip.

I have not done a ride yet, other than bring the bike from the shop to the house! :( Normally I would have trailered out by now and had a few thousand miles on based out of Az or Fla. Not this year.

Search Starved Rock State park, it a pretty neet place plus it a very nice ride a long the river. I'm not a drinker any more, but there are some neat bars along the Illinois river. Also in Savanna Illinois is another one. You let me know if you come up and I'll show you around.

And to be quite honest, I find Blue Ridge a bit out of the way if I'm trying to plan something (call me a wimp) for the first time. Illinois is a pushing it. I'm looking for something within the Oklahoma/Texas/Kansas/Colorado/New Mexico/Arkansas/Missouri area (LOL).

Call me hypocritical or a pain.

Immediately coming to mind as candidates: Wichita, Robber's Cave, The Great Sand Dunes

There was shower while we were having the cookout under the pavilion Saturday night, then a brief but soaking thunderstorm at about 10:30 right when we all went to bed. John left for Nashville about 10:30 Sunday morning as did I. He got a lot of rain on the way home but my run to Knoxville was dry and pleasant. It was all very hit-or-miss. I'm afraid that most of the attendees probably got at least a little rain on their way out. Except maybe Joe and Rick. They left Saturday morning. How was the trip home, Joe?

Well……….for starters I want to thank and Praise the God Lord up above for a wonderful weekend….and the opportunity to meet sooooooooo many wonderful people. Great travel…a bevy of new friends, great food…….and a great deal of laughter………..what a wonderful way to spend a few days. I left at 8:30 AM on Sunday and got home at exactly 3:00 PM. I want to thank Ripshod for his great instructions of how to get through Knoxville….brother you were right on. Matter of fact I cut off two hours off my return trip! I did not hit heavy rain until I crossed the Virginia/Kentucky line on Hwy 23 but it only lasted for about 10 miles. Twenty minutes after I pulled into my garage the real rain hit my little town, (Man, WV) and probably drowned a few dozen frogs! My thanks again goes out to all who put this event together and especially to Rick (Trailace) and Joe (Mellow) for the insight to bring so many people of like interest together into one spot. And, to Jack and Lori Hunt, owners of Hunt’s Lodge, a pristine place to stay…these folks made all of us feel like we were “family”! Simply put……….this weekend for me was a Blessing! Pat

That's very similar to Pat's route if, as I assume, you took 68 to 75. I just had him turn north off 68 a little sooner at Hwy 411. That joins 129 which makes a straight shot for I40 in KnoxVegas. That route runs parallel to I75, it's sort of scenic and it's divided four-lane the whole way with a lot of 55mph. A little shorter but probably about the same amount of time or a little more.

By sort of scenic, I mean you can sometimes catch a glimpse of the mountains over your right shoulder.

Another thanks to Ripshod for all the food I missed out on.. You don't know how many times Rick and I were going to head back and have dinner with y'all then IronButt back home... On the map, Knoxville looks like the kind of place to avoid - like traffic could slow you down - but if the alternative is to turn southwest off I40 east of Knoxville and cut through Sevierville and Maryville to bypass the city, well, while it may be prettier in some places and have lots more t-shirt shops in others, it's much quicker to come on into Knoxville and beeline south, either on I-75 or the 129/411 combo. And I've said it before - don't even think of getting near Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg on a Sunday. Just don't.

Oh and about Hunt's Lodge. The owners are wonderful folks and I've never, ever seen a campground with an open, free ice machine. Just one of the many things that make it a great place to camp.

First of all, let me say that Jack and I really enjoyed meeting everybody. It is weekends like we had with you guys that we had in mind when we even dared to dream about opening the campground up.

According to the check-in records, there were 22 people from MotoCampers here last weekend, plus one guy who was local that visited, but didn't stay, bringing the total to 23. I was informed Sunday morning that Jack and I are now considered members, so that brings the count up to 25 for the weekend. Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas, and California were represented. Thank you again for allowing us to be a part of your adventure!

I am glad every one had a good time, and made it home safe. I have not heard from VAbob or G Wizz, but I think they they are on a mission to have an adventure. God Bless, and keep the pictures coming. ( I am hoping for one that I am in. Just for proof I was there)

I got home in about 4 hours. Had to stop and put on the FroggTogs at Crossville, TN, I got blindsided by the same kind of sudden storm that hit us in the campground Sat. night. Rode through heavy rain and high winds the next 115 miles or so to Nashville. I had to use another helmet until this morning, it took that long for my HJC to dry out!
It was great meeting everybody, and that's one of the best campgrounds I've ever stayed in. Thanks to Lori and Jack for running a great place to stay, and thanks to everyone for making me feel more of a member and less of a lurker. I hope everyone had as great a time as I did! I'm ready to do it again anytime someone wants to get another campout going. I have a few pix I'll put up as soon as I get them downloaded from my camera.

Well, not that it matters, but we are now at the KOA in Holbrook, AZ. Heavy winds, but rideable. Not very good gas mileage on the Wees, about 45 MPG in the headwind.:) Don't know how far we will get tomorrow if the winds keep up. Take care.

Be safe. How's the tent in the wind? Is it quieter than sleeping next to us snorers?

PS Told my wife that you said I had to get a medical tattoo! I think she bought it...so now to design my back piece or full sleeve while I have permission....;) LOL

Hey, snorers don't bother us, that's why they make ear plugs.:D The tent is flexing real well in the winds. Hopefully the poles won't break. We are holding up in Barstow, CA. at the KOA here. The winds are wicked right now. Put on 452 miles today, but was hoping to get all the way home. An additional 240 miles or so, but couldn't do it. Not taking a chance this close to home. We'll wait it out and cruise on home tomorrow.
As far as that tattoo, we think that was your idea. We said medic alert tags. But if the wife wants to blame us, we accept the charges.:D Take care of yourself, Bob and we'll see you down the road.

P.S. Anyone heard from trainbagger? Hope he's alright.

The SIM card actually survived. I didn't find any Micro SD card, I don't know if the phone had one or not. I was mowing around the tables near the road and saw it out of the corner of my eye just as it went under the deck. I thought "Hey, that looks like a .... oops, yeah it was."

I mowed again today, got rained on again today. But I had left the phone pieces on the table since I took that picture. Some guests set up camp there this evening and one of them brought the handful of parts to me and there was no sim card. I don't know if it blew away, if I mowed it again, or what. But it's gone and I threw away the rest of the parts. There was nothing left worth saving, just tattered fragments. Even the battery was warped up. Sorry.

Home again, home again. Good to be home again. After 21 days and just over 3k miles in Tn. and N.C. Really enjoyed the trip, and meeting everyone. I left Hunts and went over to the Kickstand Lodge in N.C. for an extended visit with friends there. There is little that compares to the beauty of the Smokies. I'll try to post a few pics later, but not tonight. I'm worn out! The last portion of my ride home today was in the hardest rain I have EVER ridden in. I'd have pulled onto the shoulder, but I couldn't see what was past the white line! Another of those tales that will be a lot more fun in the telling than they were in the doing!
