This campground is very clean, has large sites, multiple restrooms with free hot showers. It is just a few miles north of Caliente, NV where you can get a good meal or buy food to cook at camp. All sites have a covered concrete area where the table is located. Firewood is available at the campground on an honor system. $2.00 for an 'arm-full' of firewood. Fee is $14 per night. Great Views, clean campground

I totally agree with you GoingPostal!
This is a great campground in a weirdly scenic area.
And real close to the "Alien Highway".

Thanks GoinPostal! I have never gone to the campground, but I've gone through Caliente enough times:) I almost always stop at the service station for gas and food.
Be aware at night. The closest I have been to an elk in the last 5 years was just north of there. I flinched, I thought I'd hit it.

Right B&B The Alien Hwy as you call it was an unexpected bonus. We stopped at the 'Little Ale Inn' a roadside bar, for a little more info. seems as though Area 51 is right down the road from this sign.

Stayed there my first night out on the way to Redmond, OR in July for the BMWMOA rally. Slung a hammock between two trees at the site I picked. Great night. Although about 2 AM was awakened by howling canines. Not sure what they were. The area was so quiet, they could have been miles away or right in the camp. They finally went off and I went back to sleep until daybreak.

I stayed there back in May, nice place I need to go back and check out some of the hiking trails through a very uniquie landscape. It was 28 degrees when I got up in the morning I was wearing every stitch of clothing I had. The Extraterrestrial Highway is a long lonely ride make sure you have plenty of gas, I rolled into Tonopah on fumes and a prayer.
A very chilly morning
