could be fun .
Though they have a lot of tree ratrs in that area .
the area of Texas that is ;)
Let us know if you are setting up camp as its just a hop skip and a jump
Are they allowing fires ?
A quiet woodland and rugged hills make this park one of the most beautiful in Texas. Many species of wildlife such as white-tail deer, rabbits, squirrels, opossums and armadillos scurry through the woods.

We've had a lot of rain around here this year so hopefully the fire will be OK.

I think I will meet up with Joe Thursday night at Garner SP or Lost Maples then ride Friday morning to Bastrop SP with him. Maybe Saturday night we could find a place to camp between our homes and head home Sunday.
Joe will that work for you?
If anyone wants to join us chime in.

Works for me... I'm thinking about Kerrville SP Wednesday after work and then ride the area Thursday.
Friday we could ride the area again and then head over to Bastrop which is only 200 zig zag miles from Kerrville.
I'm up for anything so we can figure that out Friday/Saturday.

Will see you there Wed afternoon. I usually like to camp in the area across from the headquarters to stay away from the weekend-recreational people but given it's a Wed/Thu there probably won't be many so I'll try to get something along the river.
I'm a ways from there so I don't know what time I'll make it. Will probably be after 5pm and thats when the office closes so if you get there before that, go ahead and reserve a site and we'll split it.

:tent4: Drove up to Kerrville this afternoon with the SO. Had lunch at Cracker Barrel and then wandered next door to the Kerrville Visitors center and spoke with a lovely older lady whose name escapes me now....
Picked up some brochures of the area and then went down the road to Kerrville-Schriner State Park. Checked in with the Local rangers/staff and drove around the river side of the park....learned some good info..
For anyone interested in joining us....
1. Large side of the park will be closed in December for Bow-Hunting Season...
2. Fires are OK in the Fire Rings
3. River side of Park will Remain open
4. Rangers are happy to know that we don't have loud pipes...:p
5. Camp sites allow 2 tents/vehicles per site but after talking to the rangers, that is more to limit the total number of PEOPLE per site... as long as we remain within the confines of our assigned lot, we will be OK...
6. There are no other tent site reservations as of today for the tent spots..so if we need to spread out we should be good.P^
7. Tent sites are a short walk to two different restroom/shower facilities...
I'll be riding up to the park from San Antonio as soon as I can get out of work on Wednesday... Riding the Hill country on Thursday, and the taking the scenic route toward Bastrop State Park on Friday, to lddave's BBQ in Lockhart on Saturday and then back to San Antonio...
I have one tent site reserved for Wednesday(12/9) and Thursday(12/10) nights...

That's where Mike (Imrubicon) got firewood last time... it's at least a couple miles away but since we were getting snacks it worked out... we can do that Wed/Thu as well... I'll get to the campground and setup and then we can both go into town for snacks or eat there and bring back a couple bundled.
Bring a piece of tarp or something so you don't damage your seat, that's what I do.

We found out that the campingaz canisters would hiss propane when placed in a fire....
We then found out the Snow Peak Giga power canisters would not hiss when placed in the fire... they explode!!!! LOL

ARLO what is it with all these early risers anyhow? :p
Sometimes when I was on my trip with Black and Blue I would wake up early for me and think I had got up before they did. I would try to sneek out of the tent so I didn't wake them and they would be setting around camp drinking coffee enjoying the morning.
We always joked that one morning I would wake up and they would have finally ditched me! :lol
