Some of you may have seen this in person, but I saw it for the first time in person at a rally the first of Oct. Across from where we were camping was a large group of riders from Chicago and the last rider from their group got there a little late. They were backed in along the gravel road where it went up a hill. The last guy rode up the slight grade and backed in at the end of the line but couldn't get his kickstand down due to the ground being too high on the kickstand side. He got off balance and fell over into the bike to his right.

Yep, they started falling like dominos!

It was a sickening sound hearing those bikes falling! I didn't take my camera with me, but I don't think I could have taken the picture anyway. The guys had a good sense of humor about it, one guy said "It's a good thing we're all friends". :D

After all the bikes were set up, and the damage looked over, everyone had a good laugh. I have to admit it was kind of comical. :D I did feel sorry for the guy who toppled the bikes, his face was red as a beet and I think he was probably hurt worse than he let on. :o

Man ... that's scary.
Did you get a good discription of the guy and his bike?
I'd like to be able to keep a far distance from him if he ever comes to these parts. :D

Darn those two wheelers. They always fall over at the wrong time. That's why you should have a third wheel for those times when you don't want to be embarrass.:D I will never knock over a bike on my Ural.:p

Well, from the title I thought sure we had a "Snuggie" sighting. Oh, well:)

I've never seen it, either. Must have been funny to watch.

I saw a car tip over about 4 one night in a bar parking lot. Not a good thing to do....

I was at Bike Week several years ago and a guy did a domino in front of the Harley dealer.
He had a Boss Hoss trike with a big V8 and was showing off in the rain. He slid into a line of bikes and they started falling. He took out about 15 bikes. What a mess. I'm glad that I wasn't the policeman that had to write that up.

Well... Welcome Cowboy, to the the forum.
Don't be afraid to jump in here with the rest of us, before you know it you will feel like you've known these fellers (and ladys) for a long time. Good people, thery are.
Are you the cousin Ziggy is talking about that just built the trailer to pull behind your bike?

Thanks for the Welcome G wizz.
and yes that would be me with the trailer. BTW would you happen to have the parts list that came with the cargo box (car top carrier), I would be interested in the front spring latch. No wait make that the back latch as it sits on the trailer (lol) I considered reversing my carrier also, but this being the first draft if you will, I opted to leave front facing front and scooting it as far back as possible without going over the edge, leaving a wedged shaped storage area that holds a bag chair, then mounted a crude cooler rack in front of that. It worked for Cave in Rock Rocktoberfest.:D Trial and error and of course seeing what you guys n gals have done or tried. uh oh Sorry; there goes my calculus again. oops sorry ziggy, for you that means I sometimes "Go Off on a tangent".(lol)
G wizz no matter what else you might hear, Ziggy is the kinda fella that would give you the shirt right off his back. As a matter of fact he even offered to give that poor sap that started the harley dominoes event$$$$, the parts right off my bike. haha
Anyway G wizz; if you do happen to have that parts list it would be great if you could give me a shout.

Cowboy:
Sorry, I can't help you with a parts list. I bought my cartop carrier off Ebay ... it was used, and the only thing that came with it was one key.
My thoughts would be to find a store that sells cartop carriers like yours, and talk one of the sales help into letting you look over the parts list so you can get part numbers. Then contact the manufacturer.
Other than that, the one place you might look is in a McMaster Carr catalog. They have the biggest selection of latches and hardware that I know of. I know they have spring type latches, maybe kinda like what you need.
Good luck.
Say ... Did you get your trailer light problem solved? Talk to your cousin if you didn't, I gave him some advice he'll no doubt share with you.

G wizz:
Darn the luck!!!
I had already done as you suggested at Sears and Mcmaster-Carr, actually purchased a set from both, I was able to make one of Sears' work for the rear. I also looked at Sierra Pacific, Nielsen and aMsp...no luck.
Time ran out so I just used a small C-clamp which did the trick for Rocktoberfest. I'm going to try to form a new bail from a bucket handle, I still have the base and keeper from the original latch.
The lights worked great on the trip home. Ziggy told me about your advice so... If they start to act up again. I'll try it.
Thanks again

Cowboy:
After thinking about your latch delema for a while, I thought of an alternative that may work for you.
Maybe those rubber hood hold downs like you see on semi trucks & Jeeps, might work. They would strech over the lip of the lid, I think. They wouldn't look too bad either.
Those you should be able to locate with no trouble. I know Northern Hydraulics sells them.
