I put this up on ST-Owners but I thought I would give it a shot here as well.

We will be doing some riding in WV week after next. We would like to do some camping when feasible. Our itinerary will put us in the Seneca Rocks area one night and that area looks like it might have potential for some good camping. Mapsource shows the following recreation areas in the area where we will be:

Blackwater Falls S.P., Canaan Valley S.P., Seneca Rocks NRA and Spruce Knob NRA.

Can anyone recommend a good place to camp in that area? We are only camping and not cooking, etc. so we are seeking a campground location with places to eat in the vicinity.

Any other suggestions for camping in the area are welcomed as well.

Hi I just wanted to add that I posted the other thread and have
stayed at Seneca Shadows more than once and I like it.

There is a store and restaurant at the Rt 33 intersection.
The campground is about 1.5-2 miles East of the intersection of
RT 33 and 28 on RT 33.

I haven't camped at Blackwater Falls S.P., or Canaan Valley S.P. but just
about 5 weeks ago I rode through Blackwater Falls S.P and the campground
looks nice.

There are places to eat in Davis, and Thomas, WV my wife and I
have eaten at the Sawmill Restaurant in Davis and the Purple Fiddle in
Thomas.

I hope this helps you.

I would highly recomend Pegasus Campground in Elkins, West Virginia; about 40mintes to the west of Senaca Rocks on Route 33. Close to many resturants, super Wal Mart, and anything else you might need. Sparkling clean modern bath house and some great camp sites (primative or with electric). I was there for five days in early September, smack in the middle of some of the best riding in West Virginia.

We've camped at Canaan Valley in a travel trailer. We often visit Blackwater Falls, but have never camped there--would like to, as well as at Senecca Shadows. Any of those places would be great. We really like the Dolly Sods Wilderness Area, and wouldn't hesitate to take the Gold Wing down that dirt road, but then...we're sort of different. (I.E., don't mind a little dirt.)
