I wanted to try out the new tent and the weather report was very positive for the next couple of days (09/17/2009) so, strapped all my junk on the KLR and blasted off for the Mountain Loop Hwy which is a few miles from home.

Dumped my stuff off at the campsite (Gold Basin) and headed to one of my favorite FS roads. FSD 4065 that takes you a few miles into the back country to the Sunrise
Mine trail head.

Stopped at the Big Four area for a photo op.
(Why is the sun always in my lens when I want to take a pic ?)

Then on up the road (east) to FS 4065

Elevation climbs quickly but, the roads in good shape compared to the last time I was up that way over a year ago.

I'll leave this trail to the trials riders.

Some beautiful sites once you get off the beatin path.

Made it to the mine trail head and there was no one around.

Back to the campsite after some hard riding.:p

Time for a late afternoon nap by the river.

Will post a campground review later.

Hope you enjoyed my mini-adventure.

I'm confused <that happens early and often>. Is there a Sunshine mine in WA? Or did you sneak across to Idaho? Actually, the trees aren't quite right for Idaho, are they?

Nice pictures, looks like a great ride.

I've been up and around the Sunshine in ID, not in WA. I rode there on a XL185 Honda, before I started carrying the Hay Bale around with me:)

I must have been overwhelmed by all the fine sunshine we're having here lately. It's actually the Sunrise Mine. :lol

I like ID. P^ Need to get out that way more often. Maybe next year.

Hi Stan,

The new tent was wonderful. REI Half Dome 2 HC I picked up a couple of weeks ago on sale. Setup is easy and kept me warm at night. NO condensation on the inside. It replaces an REI Camp Dome 2. The new tent is about 4 inches longer. ;)

Here it is pitched-

Thanks. My previous upscale JC Whitney top box hinge broke. The new one is a $20 Black & Decker toolbox I picked up at Wallymart. ;)
