Well, I first have to admit, I camped at the El Jo motel in Springerville, AZ for 2 nights. I got there Tuesday having ridden 100 miles in rain, twice in toad stranglers:) I even saw snow on the knob between Show Low and Springerville.

Elevation was from 246' to 9019', temps from 35º to 110º. A typical Arizona fall ride...

I was loaded for camping, I just couldn't take the snow or threat of snow:) Remember that I am a desert dwelling lizard...

Anyway, a great ride, 1200 miles in three days, includes the 191/666 loop, one of the all time great motorcycle roads. You think dragon? Just a little lizard compared to the 666.

My pictures are up on my Picasa Album, link right down at the bottom here.

That's an awful lot of stuff to carry just to stay at a motel :D

Great trip and pics. Looks like you had a good time.

Well art least one of us that went to 666 on 999 camped at the agreed campground!!! LOL, the snow melted overnight, but it did get right chilly in a 35 degree bag during the night.

I need to ride the 666 someday.
Camping in snow is fun until it starts to melt then everything seems to get wet.

Everybody needs to run 666 at least once. There are some serious elevation changes, some very tight kis your butt turns, and delightful sweepers. One of the best roads in the country.

+1

I've never ridden in that area of AZ before. I've taken 89A up to Flagstaff and that was quite nice. The 666 and 191 is on my list now.

Even in the USMC we were smart enough to prefer camping on dry ground over mud. George and I opted for Springerville AND made it to the RTE; swabbies aren't that smart :D.
