I've had a Nomad Jukebox in the past and upgraded las year to a creative zen.

Just curious what everyone is using, if at all, and what they like or don't like about them.

I am using a Sony walkman 1 GB mp3 player. So far I like it. It has an internal lithium-ion rechargeable battery. It is advertised to be good for up to 45hrs of music on a single charge. It recharges via a USB port on a PC. 3 hours of music on a 3 minute charge. It has an FM tuner. It does take special software to put music on or to take it back off but I believe this also gets you more music on the same amount of storage (ATRAC3plus) It was also the cheapest 1 GB device I could find at Best Buy.

By not knowing what I was getting, or asking the right questions, I ended up buying a Sony bean, got it home and discovered you need a usb port to charge the battery, I don't carry the means to charge a battery that way with me on the bike, so I learned a lesson there and brought it back, ended up with one that took regular batteries that I could carry/purchase on the road if needed, since then I have seen some that have great battery life compared to what I purchased, oh well, live and learn.

There are not some converters to allow the charging of usb devices... I think the ipod is the same way.

My creative zen has an auto kit that plugs into the 12v outlet on the Wing.

There are so many options out there.. it's pretty confusing.

Actually, I have to correct myself.. the zen also charges via a usb port, the smaller one, and the auto charger kit has that on the end of it.

Ipod Shuffle.

Likes: Small. Light. 1GB holds enough songs. Cheap. Simple. Easy to push buttons through tank bag window.

Dislikes: Costs another $30 for a 12volt charger.

That's about it.

Ordered a Samsung 1 gig, has an fm tuner, runs on one AA battery advertised at 40 plus hours on the one battery, I can live with that as that will give me a week of music, lots of times I don't listen to the radio etc. when riding anyway. I searched for a long time to find one everybody was out of them, I looked at about a hald dozen places on line where I normally would get them at a decent price. Wally World advertised them for 109 next place was 129 and they were out, when I got to 150 bucks I could find them so I waited for WW to get them back in stock. Reviews were good on it so as soon as the mail man comes I'll be back in business. Danny

Don't like MP3 players for riding. Most don't hold the memory and the ones that do have hard drive based memory. My last one up and died on the ride back home. XM or Sirius is better IMO.
