Field of Dreams Campout June 2 & 3

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you build it they will come?

Spring is in the air and for many that means baseball. It?s also a chance for everyone to experience the excellent riding we have here in SW Wisconsin and NE Iowa. Therefore we are organizing a campout for the first weekend in June with the set from the movie ?Field of Dreams? as the theme. Those interested can ride to the ball field near Dyersville IA on Saturday morning and throw a ball around or maybe even play a game. There doesn?t seem to be any entry fee but I?m sure they ?encourage? purchase of their t-shirts and souvenirs. The afternoon could be spent on a ride to one of the local Cheese factories in Grant County WI. Other than riding to Dyersville there are no organized rides planned. However, this is a great area for just taking random turns and getting lost (that is if you turn off some of that electronic equipment).

The nearest campground with group camping is Nelson Dewey State Park just outside of Cassville WI. We?ve reserved one of the group camp sites there for Friday, June 2nd and Saturday June 3rd. You can stay one night, both nights or no nights and just hang out. If my figures are correct the fee should be no more than $10 for both nights. It?s a state park so there will probably be a parking fee.

Two unorganized ST-O members (David Kruger and Tom Bognar) are "organizing" this event. So expect the unexpected. Send any favorable messages to David Kruger (Jackpine), insults and criticisms to Tom Bognar (Tom Bognar).

Check the ST OWNERS web site under events for more links.
Also David has it backwards he gets the insults & I get favorable messages...:D

Hey guys, we are still looking for a few riders for this event.Come for a couple of days or just a few hours. David (Jack Pine Savage) will be cooking burgers right off the mufflers on his bike on Saturday. It's a site to see, just don't ride behind him afterwards:D

The weather looks great for this weekend. Little chance of rain, highs in the low 80s, lows in the mid 60s.

It looks like we'll spend Saturday morning running to the field of dreams. We can stop for lunch and then spend the afternoon exploring the alphabet roads of SW Wisconsin.

For any interested parties, we'll be in group campsite #97 at Nelson Dewey SP just outside of Cassville WI. I should be there by 5:00 on Friday evening.

Hope everyone has a safe trip, sure looks like good weather and good friends.

Try to remember to take some pics of the campground and review it, I need to remind myself as well to take some better pics.

Have fun.

Pictures would be good. I tend to forget to bring my camera along but I will remember to pack it for this. It'll be interesting to actually see the campgrounds in person. I've heard good things about the park.

Forgot about this post.. brings back some sad memories. Jackpine Savage (Dave Kruger) was killed in a MC accident just a little over a month after this event. You can read some of the details here (http://www.st-owners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16317).

Tom, maybe a memorial Field of Dreams campout would make Dave smile?

Yeah... it's the reality we live in though... we all know it's a possibility.. but then we also enjoy life much better than the person sitting there on the couch watching TV waiting for the end... "A life not lived is not a life"....

I know it's a dark thing to talk about, but I'd much rather go out in a MC accident, than lying in a hospital bed, dying a slow cancer death.. I'd PAY to have that choice.. And the last time I checked, I'm pretty sure that each and every one of us will die some day..

Every year somebody gets all upset because someone dies during the Dakar, or a road race or some othet event like that. It's a bit harder on family when an accidental death happens, but to go out doing something I truly love is exactly how I want to leave this earth.. :run1:

I'm not ready today, but I've already informed all that I love that if I were to die today in a MC accident, know one thing.. I went out with a smile on my face..

If there's a heaven, I hope they have plenty of campfire wood.. :fire3:
