For all the Trailer Pullers out there, I would like your opinion on this Hitch ball setup in the link. Please reserve judgment as to why I am posting until we have a few good honest responses. http://dsksales.com/hitch.htm

I can see the theory behind it but don't see the need after haveing pulled my trailer many many miles on a solid ball hitch and never haveing any problems just could not see the added expense

The theory is one thing, but let me hint you in the direction of the actuality of having a side to side free motion ball attached to the tongue of your trailer. Then what..?

I feel that it will create some added motion from side to side on some roads. You will notice the trailer more when the trailer wheels make contact with ruts, bumps and possibly more ware inside the hitch area. If the ball cocks over to one side, and you go into a turn "parking lot, or U-turn" it could bind. I have a bushtec hitch and it does the job I want it to do. I just wouldn't trust the ball flopping back and forth.

Ok, just so you all know, I was NOT thinking of getting one of these. Much to the contrary as I believe they should be taken off the market for safety reasons. I believe there would be way to much motion in it and it would cause a serious fishtail problem. I have talked to a few Trailer Manufacturers and they believe the same. I just wanted some opinions and to get the word out that these are unsafe.

I don't pull a trailer yet, but after checking out a couple of Bunkhouse trailers on my way home from AK, and seeing all the room Colleen and Ernie had with the sidecar rigs I see one in my future.

As far as the swivel hitch goes, the bracket that holds it looks a little cheesy to me, I can't help but think after time the forward and back motion would wallow out the holes in the bracket where the ball bolts through. On the other hand I tend too build things to heavy, so what do I know. :p

I dont hink it would be a bad thing just not needed . as a standard ball mount will let the trailer flop on its side just fine this just makes another weak link

I agree with the fishtail statement above. I wouldn't own one.

Go to bushtec and ck out the way they use a pin instead of ball, and for what it's worth their trailers will not bounce, I guess others will work, but as far as saftey is concerned

I am a past Bushtec owner and know the system well...thanks
As I said though, I am not looking for options, just trying to make sure the unsafe nature of the mentioned item gets out...
