I'll be riding to and riding Newfoundland "September 4th - September" "" when I get back"". I was wondering what bike would be best for the ride. I'd easily make my 50,000 mile mark on the ST with this ride but for some reason the KLR calls to me.
I'd love to hear from someone who has been there.

I haven't been there. I'd take the KLR. I would really like to go there.

Most all the roads are paved ... I would ride the ST up there if I was going back. Be sure t take in the Norse museum near St Anthony if you go up the west coast on the St Lawerence.
If you like history take the ferry across the St Lawerence to L'Anse-au-Clair, Labordor and participate in the Norse dig that is going on there. It used to be that if you particpated (work) in the dig you got free sleep space & food.
I would recommend the night ferry to get there ... and there is good sleeping under the steps to the pilot house if it isn't raining ... otherwise there is a lot of people noise indoors on the ship/ferry.
I hope to get back there in the next few years.
Take a lot of money. A gallon of ice cream at a store is about $10.
