Any thoughts- plus or minus on single pole tepee type tents?
I suppose the biggest problem with a one pole tent is where the pole is. I had a friend that used an older one pole tent for years and liked it his only problem was the pole was in the dead center of the tent making him sleep around the pole.....

SInce this post is in the 2-up category, the obvious detriment is going to be - yeah, that pole in the middle. Right between the two of you. Would that be a good thing or ...

I looked at them once as only one pole might be easier to pack . But all I have seen with floor and windows like those at the Sports mans guide seem to be large packing .
It looks like you need a bigger size to account for the pole

Yes, Tipi or lavvu single pole tepee's are the best traveling shelters since the beginning of early man walking the earth. You know back before motorcycles with the pleasure and enjoyment riding all day to camping out all night to ride all day. Traveling carrying everything on your bike to support all your needs as early man nomads did to explore. It's only natural, I have been using tipi's since I was a kid making one with a old bed sheet and broom handle then then to tarps tied to tree branches I learned from boy scouts. So now that I am stepping back from a 40' RV to adventure motorcycle camping I have researched lite tepee tents for my needs. The "Tentipi" from Sweden is the best and my top choice followed by the Kifaru Tepee but I will buy the stove from Kifaru it's unbelieveable packs small and flat. Yes you have a pole in the middle unless you hang the tipi from a tree branch above the tent then no poles. Both tents can be totally erect in five minutes up or down so easy to pack in morning. Weighs less than than 10 pounds, no rain fly, no running bentable poles. Easy set up, tall stand up iniside, big roomy area, perfect travel shelter. The Tenetipi is my choice here is a picture. Has any one seen or used on of these Tentipi. Camping on a motorcycle primitive with a tentipi riding the earth as a nomad ...... :tent6:

the The "Tentipi" from Sweden is very cool but did you see the size of the bag all that stuff comes in also no floor which is bad down this way as the creepy crawleys can sting and bite so I still use a tent

You can get a floor for them, plus a inner tent bug screen with a floor to keep the bugs out. Just over 10 pounds in weight for Safir 5L, 13# with floor and packs down to 7" x 22" in compression sack. It's 7'6" high and almost 12' 6" around inside so you can stand and walk around. That is a good sized tent for that weight. Plus you can have a small fire box or a wood fire stove inside them. Where are my marshmallows. :tent6:

10 LBS or 20 doesnt make too much difference but packing size will hit the hardest . The bag looked like something I used to pack in the army
Its hard enough to see around my fat arse let alone add a army size pack along with the rest of my camping stuff.
Just getting to big a package for me as a nice half dome for $ way less and packs 1/4 the size might work as well. I have a family tent that has two rooms and I can carry two or three in the bag they had for the tipee.
To each their own and if you can do it cool but I would rather save a few bucks and get a two pole dome or half dome a little larger if needed

I agree with Tran.
I have a 6 man kifaru Tepi that I use. Stove is used in the winter time. Tent and stove packs in around 12 lbs. I have no floor and don't have a use for one. It is by far the the most space for the weight shelter. I have not been able to erect it in 5 minutes, as it has 12 stake points. Taking it down is quite effortless. Packs real easy.
