Just curious if anybody has been to/camped at Lake Murray SP in Oklahoma. Looking to head up to OK to visit some folks, and am planning on camping at lake murray. Looks nice from what I can see on the internet. Any info and/or best site info would be greatly appreciated.

I have camped there before but it has been a very long time. 20+ years.

The camp grounds were nice then, no issues with that. The only thing I remember is the raccoons were into everything so, be watching out for those guys.

Though I haven't been to Lake Murray SP specifically, my experience with the Oklahoma State Park System has always been good to excellent. They have always been wellkept, wellpatrolled, and generally a pleasure to stay in. That's not the same as some of the Corps of Engineer Campgrounds. Some of those are better than others and it seems to be a crap shoot.

Enjoy!

Jordan,

My husband and son go to Lake Murray SP a couple of times a year. They just went a few weeks back. I would make sure you have a reservation ahead of time. There was flooding at Lake Texoma and it caused Lake Murray to fill up quick. Not sure that is still an issue, but would call ahead. They stayed in the primative camping area as usual and had a great time. They don't ride, so not sure about anything motorcycle related.

One nice thing about Lake Murray; as compared to most Oklahoma lakes, which tend to be quite muddy and turbid, Murray is fairly clear. It's a nice lake with decent camping areas.
