I stayed here for one night on my way to CampSToc09 on the recommendation of a couple of friends. This is a large Forest Service camp ground with a large lake, smaller fishing pond, new bath houses and recently manicured camp sites.
Really, really nice, roomy, well spaced out camp sites and close to the Blue Ridge Parkway to boot.

Unfortunately, for me I couldn't enjoy the new bath houses because of a hot water issue, as in NO HOT WATER.

After having a good laugh with the ranger and cg hosts, at my expense, I was told it was because the county decided to overhaul the water tower. I found that difficult to believe, but was assured the water will be hot at some point in the near future.

I give it 4 out of 5 stars only because of the cold shower. Put it in your camp ground favorites.

PS: Come to find out the "old" bath house had perfectly good HOT water.

Mike, you're right about this campground! My wife & I stayed there car camping a couple years ago and were very happy staying for several days. Great little beach and lots of hiking trails.
