Wanted to introduce myself before I start posting. My name is Ron and I have a '99 Nomad that I pull a '01 Bunkhouse with, and I live in Crystal River, FL. My wife and I have taken it on a couple short trips (4 day) and we love it. We are getting ready for our longest excursion so far to Custer, SD for a rally in June.
I stumbled onto the site through reading some things on Delphi forum and I really have enjoyed what I have seen. Hopefully, at some point I can add something to this community but right now I'm just taking ideas and using them.
Great site!

Good luck on your trip. When are you leaving?

We, my brother and I, are going to be tearing the bike down this week and performing all the maintenance on it so that, hopefully, we won't experience any road gremlins. We are also going to repack the bearings on the trailer and I may hit it with some waterproof spray again...just to be safe.
Love all the good tips on stuff to take, what works and what doesn't. Thanks for the welcome.

CoachA, let me add my welcome to the site. Not a bad idea about doing the hubs. I have a Lil Bunkhouse and last year took it on a 15,000+ trip to Alaska & back across Canada. In British Columbia (about 3000 miles from home) we repacked the wheels after my traveling buddy from Oz noticed some heat coming from the left one. We shared the riding/driving duties on my ST1100/Hannigan sidecar. The Bunkhouse made the trip with only some tail light problems (not major). The wear on the tires was not a problem and if I had it to do over I would leave the spare at home.

Bike is done. We put a 4 gallon auxiliary tank in the tour trunk, installed cruise control, new brake pads, changed the oil and rear gear lube, and went over all the other systems. Looks like the bike is ready to go. My brother checked the trailer over and it looks good.
Now I have to pack everything up in the trailer and then we head out on Thursday afternoon. We are heading up through GA, AL, TN, IL, MO, KS, NE, SD on the way up (I think). On the way back we may go I-90 east for a little bit to hit MN then head south toward home via I-74 to I-75. We have to make some time on the way back because one of the guys with us lives in Weston, FL (down by Miami/Ft. Lauderdale).
