Hi Guys. This is my second try at posting this. For some reason the first one just disappeared. I came upon this site by complete accident and like the posts and information so much I decided to join up

I am a 59 year old Australian now living in Florida. I’ve been here in the US for almost three years and have been riding motorcycles since I was 16. I currently ride a 1996 HD Ultra Classic and pull a Timeout Trailer behind it. My wife Cindy (the reason for me moving to the US) decided she wanted her own bike and now rides a 2005 750 Honda Shadow Aero. We chose the Timeout because of the low profile and the room available when set up, We carry all the camping gear in the trailer and our personal clothes etc on our bikes. When doing a long trip we put a cartop luggage bag on top of the trailer which works great.

In the last year we have been to New Orleans LA, Alexandria LA, Daytona FL (twice), Homasassa Springs FL (twice), 29 Dreams AL plus a number of shorter stays within a days ride of Panama City.

Unfortunately, most of the panhandle riders we know consider a 20 mile run to the Outpost for a few beers and then a ride back home to be a weekend outing. We prefer longer and more visibly pleasing rides.

Our wish list for future trips is pretty extensive and seems to be growing all the time. There is just so much to see in this great country.

Thanks for the welcomes and kind words about our setup.

I am looking forward to reading trip reports that might help us with plans for future rides.

What do you mean "if it gets too hot down in Florida"? It's already too hot. :) LOL

On a serious note, thanks for the invite. We have been doing a bit of research on the Blueridge Parkway and that will probably be our next trip.

aussieultra, welcome to the site & a belated welcome to the states! I wonder where in Oz is your original home. I have a good friend from Melbourne who is currently involved in a trip around Oz, around 8,000 miles! That is after flying here to Tennessee and going with me on my ST1100/Hannigan sidecar for a 15,256 mile trip to Alaska & back across Canada from west to east. We shared driving duties and pulled a Lil Bunkhouse camper. Inside that camper was a tent for Don & we camped 60 out of 76 days on the road. Don Seedsman (from Melbourne) slept on the ground & he is 70! You aussies are tough. Your rig looks great & I know you will enjoy the Blue Ridge. The Natchez Trace (Tenn. to Ms) is very similar and we would welcome you & your bride for a visit, the Trace starts near Nashville, about 40 miles away.

Thank you Gene.

I was born in Melbourne but lived in Sydney. I have done the trip around Oz twice. Once in each direction, both times on motorcycles and both times by myself. It's not that I am not sociable, but I like to travel at my pace and see what I want to see.

Cindy has only been riding a short time so usually we keep the speed down to a max of around 55-60. The Shadow tends to get a little vibratory at anything over that and also starts to chew gas. The problem though is that the Harley would prefer a little more speed so I don't end up playing the organ with the shifter.

I had not heard of the Natchez Trace and will have to do a little research. I did a "Google" on it and it does look really nice. I have a very strong desire to see Nashville as well, with a definite trip to the Grand 'Ol Opry.
